To be honest I don't think I've ever invited somebody around *just* for dinner, or been invited over *just* for dinner. I've been out for meals with friends, or visited theirs to play boardgames. But I've never really gone to a friends with the explicit intention to eat.
Then again I basically haven't changed since my early twenties, so I'm a bit of a manchild, so maybe I just don't get invited.
Which I'm actually fine with.

I’m 51, and, I believe, an adept social communicator, having mixed in most of the circles you can probably imagine.
I would hate a random, unsolicited invitation of any kind, and would do my utmost to wriggle out of it.
I detest unexpected visitors, and also resent the idea of being one myself.
Hmmm…

Would you like to do lunch and a hot tub session on the 19th, I shan't take no for an answer! Don't worry about your bathers, we'll be eau naturale hahaha.

It's a whole 9½ Weeks scenario at Danno's place - you'll get fed, but you'll probably wish you hadn't.

I can do 9½ Weeks, but draw the line at a Salò situation.

I too hold Danno in very high esteem - all my shit-talking is meant in jest, as he knows very well (and if he doesn't, he bloody well should).

People are just doing some standard FG piss taking which would happen to anyone. I'm sure he knows this too.

He invited them, so they'd hardly be unexpected. Exactly. I was, however, showing how much I personally extend my dislike of such situations The “random” invitation would have been equally unwelcome to me, and I would likely have not accepted it.

My other half gets quite chatty with our neighbours and I do everything in my power to avoid going round there when she gets an invite.
I fully support Danno’s neighbours and am going to crowdfund a fence height extension for them.

I thought I was being nice. I've dog sat for them, called an ambulance when their 10 year old was having a massive asthma attack and I turn the music off by 10pm On the same day... The plot thickens.

Ah it all makes sense now. It's because of you dragging the wheelie bin up and down the stairs 10 times a night.

Maybe the opening salvo of ‘Do you eat out downstairs ?” Was just misunderstood.

"Fancy coming to mine for a bite?" frightened them after all the cannibal rumors.

Dear neighbour, perhaps if you cut your lawn, say every two or three weeks, it would be a lot less work and save you a fortune in burnt out lawnmowers and strimmers over your current regime of cutting it every two months. Just a thought.

I haven't mowed my lawn since I moved in in January and it is getting a bit long now.
It isn't however that big a patch and buying a lawnmower seems overkill. I wonder if I could borrow a goat off someone for a few days?

They are a pain for that. My missus works 80% of time over a 5 day week. If I'm lucky, I get home and it's already been cut.

We did 'no mow may', then I got the covid at the end of may and then I realised our green bin license had expired so I have only just been able to mow the lawn yesterday and, yes, I feel X201 could have been my neighbour, too. B&Qs finest, cheapest strimmer and mower combo were barely butch enough to cope.
Also, I left the lawn with an unmown brazillian meadow because youve got to show the bees and whatnot some love. About a quarter of it at the top has just been left as is for the lawn gang.
