Geordi's such a jerk. In "Booby Trap", he had a holodeck simulation of Lea Brahms and ended up kissing her. In "Galaxy's Child", where the real Lea Brahms is on the Enterprise, he creeps up on her until she tells him she's married. Then she finds out about his little holodeck program with holo-Lea telling him that "whenever you touch the engine, it's me" and she's pretty upset. Geordi's response: "Sorry that I committed the most horrible crime, sorry that I tried to be your friend". Wow. Geordi just won the passive-aggressive olympics.
Thankfully, the episode understood how awkward that was so it made an innuendo dialogue between the two about Geordi's penis size. And later she apologises to him for being such a bitch. Ah, good old TNG.

Family is just a good follow up to Best of Both Worlds as it makes complete sense but also isn't what you expect. Honestly, every time they gave Patrick Stewart something worth doing he just knocked it out of the park.
S3-5 is probably peak TNG.

Just finished Awakening. Season 4 of Enterprise really has more of a TNG feel to some of these stories

Was Andromeda actually worth watching? It looked so budget not really, Lexa Doig was the best thing about the show. As Kevin sorbo is massive trump supporting, anti vax cretin now a days, makes it worse to watch. The show iirc had some good ideas but it was d tier sci-fi

Ah, good old TNG. As a casual Trek fan back in the day, and a big fan of the movies, when I went back to re-watch the whole thing a couple of years ago, I was really shocked to discover that whenever Geordi gets to be the focus of an episode, he's almost always a dick. This is such a shame because Levar Burton is terrific and normally Geordi is really likeable as a supporting character. But when he's the star, he's creating creepy holodeck programs or trying to get Barclay fired or being mean to Scotty. And whilst we're on the subject of Geordi, I do think it's a huge, huge shame that he wasn't part of Picard season one. The films seemed to focus on the Picard-Data relationship, but in the series it was always Geordi and Data who were close, and it would have been nice to see him dealing with the events of that show.

He’s clearly kind of not a great person (interviews with him talking about Covid stuff is…uhhh…), but there’s so many weird twists in his life it’s crazy. Could have been the equivalent of what The Rock is now, but pushed to a stroke by working demands and then blacklisted. He also (allegedly) doesn’t run his own social media, that it’s his son posting to his accounts solely to troll. Not sure I buy that myself but it’s so weird. He also now seems to be primarily hawking homeopathy products.

"A threat like none our galaxy has faced before"--like, bigger than the end of the galaxy in DIS S2 and in PIC S1, and bigger than the end of all life in the entire multiverse in DIS S1? I was totally expecting the show to take it down a notch, glad to hear that some things never change.
Also, yeah the Ferengi were in desperate need to look stupider and more cartoonish.

I was hoping that after the last galaxy ending calamity this season would be a more traditional Star Trek series with them flitting about the thirty-first century reuniting the Federation and discovery new species and phenomena along the way.
This looks like it has even less room for that than the previous seasons had.
Its still sort of funny that the people of C31st are essentially like us sending a crew of Normans to fight the War on Terror for us.

simpleA few guest stars in the Affliction episode lol John Schuck, James Avery, and Seth Macfarlene. The first two had me stumped for ages, I recognised their voices but had to look them up. I totally forgot about the Munsters! Loved that show as a kid.

Isn’t Tim Burton working on a dark Munster reboot?
I watched Affliction and Divergence last night. Obviously the explanation for the TOS Klingons is unnecessary and not very satisfactory but the episodes were better than I remembered. Hadn’t realised it was James Avery. I thought Macfarlane was more of a Tom Morello blink and you miss it cameo too but he had lines.

didn't expect STD to be any good but another "All universe is under threat again but worse than before!" if it gets another season it will be "no this threat is 1000 times than last time" repeat and repeat
Also the new ferengi design looks like crap, it says the design has the original design of slight points on the ears and then show a pic with no points!

I love how lower decks soundtrack takes its cues from the films sometimes.
The latest episode is brilliant in that respect and funny to boot
You guys take your unlicensed Orville shit. 😝

Lower Decks continues to be the best Star Trek since DS9, "wej Duj" was just superb even if it was numerically incorrect as it had vagh Duj not wej.
Surprised the episode title was in Klingon script, that must be a first.
"Red alarm. Red alarm. Red alarm."

I always forget how tedious mirror universe Terrans are. Sure hope no one builds an entire season of Trek around them.

Discovery feels like a modern TV show that doesn't care about the franchise's baggage. PIC also feels like a modern TV show that kind of expects you to have watched the more recent movies (TNG + Kelvin) but not much more. Lower Decks is different, it's fan service, it delights in spamming references even to TAS like the skeleton of giant Spock.
That's a major part of its appeal to oldschool trekkies I guess. Other modern Trek doesn't give much of a fuck about classic Trek, Lower Decks goes all in on that. Among concurrent Trek series, Lower Decks seems to be the one targeted at oldschool trekkies who have watched everything.

Stopped the trailer at "THREAT OUR GALAXY HAS NEVER SEEN BEFORE" - UNTIL NEXT WEEK.
That's about all I'll ever see of S4 of Discovery.
So much for "all trek shows have bad starts", when does that pile of wank start getting good? Season 10?
