They should go full Disney+ and give us O’Brien, a miniseries about his time fighting the Cardasians.
Although we’d probably end up with a Raffi show set between season 2 and 3 of Picard instead.
Are Paramount still doing the Galaxy Quest tv series?

A prequel to the 2009 film? This is basically a prequel to a prequel! Sigh. It would be nice to see some more of the 24th century, with new characters in a new area of the galaxy, instead of constantly going back to events circling the original Enterprise (obviously, we had Picard to continue the 24th century, but that was a reunion show that forgot to be a reunion show for about 20 hours). Not only did Picard forget to be a reunion show for 20 hours, it also spent 10 hours fancying around in the past so didn't really show much of the 24th century.

They learned all the wrong lessons.
Prequel Garak I'm on board with Or Historical Battles with Miles and Julian
Or something new, god forbid. Trek is basically Star Wars now, anyway. Run by nostalgia idiots.

From what I understand Paramount did a deal with Bad Robot (JJ Abrams production co.) to make Star Trek content and the key players there (basically Kurtzman) are more TOS fans than of the TNG-era.

They're clearly not a fan of DS9 that's for sure, unless it's Lower Decks you'd think the series was a figment of your imagination despite the Dominion War being a big part of Picard S3.

After my Dad refused to watch DS9 for years for reasons owing mostly to "It's not on an Enterprise", he finally decided to give it a go and is now on season 2. I warned him that "Paradise" had one of the most evil villains in all of Trek in it. He said it couldn't be that bad as he'd never heard of it. He watched it. His response afterward was "What a fucking mad cow. Jesus."

It definitely does feel like those involved are more TOS fans. Which is weird, as you would think that they would be peak age for being into 90s Trek rather than 60s. My guess would be they are mostly more interested in film Trek than TV Trek, which was always more action orientated than the more ideas focused TV shows.

Maybe have a framing device Robinson plays old Garak reminiscing... casting would have to be perfect though as I can't immediately think of anyone who can pull off magnificent bastard simple tailor as well as Robinson.

iirc Abrams and kutzman hate star trek and want it to be more star wars? The whole franchise is stuck on member berries as the writers are not very good at writing new and good materials

I genuinely believe that Abrams used it as a job interview for Star Wars. As Geefe said. I should refresh the thread before posting.

Are Paramount still doing the Galaxy Quest tv series? Given how they seem to habitually miss the mark, it'll be Star Trek: Professor Keiko, and Miles will just be subjected to season long arcs, discovering news heights of emotional suffering while Keiko rescues some flowers from a galactic threat or cucks him with sentient hentai vines. Actually, I'd watch that.

Probably the best on any TV show I've watched.

I have mixed feelings on Bajoran Dukat. VERY mixed feelings.
Also, Sloane needed more screen time.

Dukat's character goes off the rails from the episode Waltz (season 6), where he is stranded with Sisko and increasingly losses his mind. He goes from a really interesting, complex character, to a fairly generic psycho. Probably the biggest mistep DS9 makes through it's run.

Here's where I can one again opine that Dukat and Winn both became much less interesting and nuanced by the end, thanks to the bloody Pah-Wraiths

The last series Dukat cosplaying as a Bajoran is naff, broken with grief mad Dukat was all right.
DS9 needed less Sloane. The once was enough. It's caused some inexcusably bad episodes of Enterprise, Discovery and Picard.

Sadler made Sloane. I honestly think he should have been kept a possible hallucination of Bashir.

Sadler made Sloane. I honestly think he should have been kept a possible hallucination of Bashir. Or just a nutty fantasist. When they went "no section 31 is totally real and the Federation attempted genocide" it kinda just gave all future script writers a free pass.

It did create a lovely scene where I thought Bashir and O'Brien were going to passionately finger blast while guzzling each other's knobs or something, but overall, I did enjoy their awkwardly moist bromance. I'm quite fond of that episode regardless of the silly.

Speaking of silly episodes, The Magnificent Ferengi is another that's so daft I can't help but like it.
I can gush on about DS9, but really there are no best characters, just best character combinations as they're all individually great, but as an ensemble of well-defined personalities with clashing principles, ideals and cultures it made something special. I feel like they just drew random characters and situations from a hat and wrote around it at times, but it was lightning in a bottle.

God it makes the Star Trek universe feel small. Everyone with a Starfleet uniform and a speaking part ends up a captain, and every Starfleet captain ends up a Federation hero.

I really don't mind it, some of the Voyager and DS9 stuff has been quite poignant (Tuvok meeting Neelix again, Bashir being a moody old git, Odo). It's fanfic for sure, but done right IMO.

I just played through the new episode, "Scorpions' Abyss" and it was really a mix of the absolute best and worst of STO.
As is standard practice these days, it starts off with a briefing in DS9's wardroom, then it forcibly reminds you that controlling a ship in fluidic space remains the same ice-skating uphill annoyance it's always been, then pulls a very cool and unexpected stunt mid-mission, and then proceeded to shit the bed completely with a plot contrivance too far that would have made even the IDW Star Trek comics writers stand up in outrage and say "No. That is quite simply bullshit on stilts."
14th Anniversary event running right now, free giveaways every day. Todays was a free Tier 6 ship token, so rather than yet another Starfleet ship, I went for a Caitian Aspero Support Carrier, which is basically the bigger, sleeker brother of the Caitian Atrox. Tried it out, liked it, then immediately went back to my previous ship because I simply could not be arsed building yet another bridge officer loadout.
