I think they're still pushing tickets for the velodrome events so maybe get there? That's in Glasgow, doesn't take long on a train from edinburgh, but maybe as easy to head to stirling if you want to see some road stuff.

I\d recommend the short track as a spectacle. Absolutely balls out pace.

Had my first ever off on the bike today. I don’t think anything is broken (no bruising or swelling or limbs at funny angles) but I got an awful lot of road rash. Bloody sore.
Basically just went into the back of the guy in front of me as he dabbed on the brakes. Bike went out from beneath me. Still! I looked like a proper pro rider, and I think I put a few people off eating their breakfasts at the cafe stop.
Fingers crossed I can drive the car to the airport tomorrow. Can move my wrist fairly well but it’s bloody painful. Couldn’t change in and out of the big chainring because it hurt too much.

Yikes. Hope you heal up OK. If there are any shooting pains in the wrist, go to the hospital.
I don't know how pros deal with all the scar tissue on their elbows and knees. I got a nasty graze on my elbow when I took a fall climbing, and it is still really sensitive on that skin.

Thanks, will do. Honestly, the pros are a different breed. I’m surprised that some can find it in themselves to finish a stage after an off. It sapped all the energy out of me and didn’t have it in the legs to get up hills after the coming off. Had to fully back off.

Friend of mine just had a nasty crash, was supposed to take him for a ride this week as he was in London for the summer with his family. Got a text on Sunday saying he won’t make it - hit a pothole and now his collarbones in 4 pieces and fractured his hip socket. Stuck in Watford General for a week while they try to arrange transport home, just flew back to Seattle yesterday

State of our roads means you're forever on the lookout for potgoles, hope he's ok, hip injuries are a bugger to recover from.
Took me a couple of days before I went A&E with my broken wrist, was trying to convince myself it was 'a bit sore' but putting pressure on it was getting more painful.

Stuck in Watford General for a week while they try to arrange transport home, just flew back to Seattle yesterday Jesus. Hope he recovers well. That’s some pretty nasty injuries , feel as though i got away lightly reading that. Some of our roads are awful. Got a few hours to decide whether to fly to Edinburgh or not. I think I can do the trip but I’m a bit more banged up than I realised. Think the sensible thing to do is is rest up for a few days and make sure my wounds are tended too. Road rash seeps a fair bit! Shouldn’t have won a white t-shirt yesterday afternoon! And removing my boxers was a bit painful. Hotel is free cancellation till 1pm so will get most of my money back.

I slid out on some diesel in the winter and had a swollen wrist for a couple of weeks, once the swelling and the feelings from that died down it became apparent I’d broken something. Still not quite right six months later. Get a scan if you’re at all unsure. The very worst thing about road rash is the sleeping, the joy of sticking to the sheets, and not in a sexeh way

Yeah grazes are awful. I got a few bad ones running trails. Tripped over a tree root when going at a fair clip and really burnt up my knee and elbows. Definitely make sure you're ok, wizardook & take it easy- i fucked up my ribs, chipped the point off my elbow on that tree root fall. I started running again too soon and knackered myself a bit when i should have taken longer off to recover properly.
Meolin (i think) do breathable sterile pads i taped onto the worst areas of seepage to keep it clean. Unfortunately the best thing is to let it all dry out to let it set and start to heal, so i wouldn't do that for too long.

Does anyone want an asssaver, lauf front mech bottle opener or a gravel union phone pouch?

Love the bottle opener, is that as it it can be attached to your bike for the celebratory post gravel race wetting of the handlebar moustache?

I believe so, having a clear out and found some goodies they handed out at the Dirty Reiver 2019. Free to a good home before I stick it on the front wall for passers by

I would also offer the Hunt Wheels T shirt I also got but it’s been in my pyjama top rotation for the last 4 years

It's shiny, at least. Need some good degreaser on mine: bought some 'foaming' stuff which is just shite, as it blows away as soon as sprayed on.

Upping that range, eh? 11-32? 11-34? Please, I’m not that bloody old. 12-29, always ridden 12-25 because I thought those middle gears were really important to me, and they kind of are I guess. Then when I got the 12 speed bike the smallest cassette is 11-29 and it’s actually quite nice having that 39/29 option as a lowest gear, I don’t really notice the missing 16 and 17 too much

NDB, a couple of days ago. I'm not quite ready for endurance bike territory yet.

Nice bike.
Don't write the more relaxed bikes off yet though.
I still love my road bike, but am having such a blast on my gravel bike. It's just such a simple joy to hop on and go wherever.

Gorgeous, I love their simple clean design. Mate got one this year, same colour actually. He’s already leant it up against a wall and used a barbecue cleaning brush and scratched it 😳

Got it the same saddle to bar drop as my other bikes, might have a play with a slammed stem but don't think I can manage it over long rides.
