It’s annoying they’ve turned the dudebro up to 11, and even added in some dudechicks too Wait what? They made that worse? FH4 I wanted to play more but the triple-threat of the weird "you joined a cult" atmosphere, the GPS (and NPCs) relentlessly bootlicking me (or whatever the creepy opposite of neg'ing is) by name, and the incredibly terrible music (maybe there was a good station, but I never found it, even the classical one is "The most trite and boring classical you can humanly imagine") just repulsed me utterly. Did they at least make the music less "We carefully curated the weakest, safest and most MoR playlist we could conceive, one that makes the current top 40 look like some edgy tracklist from NME in the '90s by comparison"? Or is this "don't play unless you have Spotify"? Also can I get the game to stop reverse-neg'ing me? |

The inane banter of the hospital station put me right off it. Just stick to playing the D&B FFS!
I've mostly been sticking to the classical station, as they have a few longer pieces that turn into 6 minute+ skill songs. There was a ridiculous 12 minute or so one in FH2 but sadly nothing like that now...

Does the classical station have "Bants" between tracks? I imagine it's not too bad and doesn't sound like "History Today" doing "Hello fellow kids." which would be cringe. But hilarious.

It's a car game, the music is going to be radio friendly middle of the road stuff, it is what it is. Although I agree XS isn't great in this. But I like Pulse, Block Party and Base Arena. I have a major gripe though. Last couple of times I've logged on, and I've lost loads of progress. I just logged on tonight and I've lost roads that I had explored have turned back grey undiscovered, billboards I had smashed have reappeared as still to get, and at least 2 of my houses have not only been unpurchased but are not even on my map anymore. That's left a sour taste  |

Can't really say what the conditions were though and generally stuff has come back quickly when it's reconnected with the servers. Could well be I completed no events during the drop out but not sure. Frustrating but hopefully patched soon (or server upgrades if that's the issue but surely MS have scalable systems for that) |

The Accolades are a bit strange. Was just browsing through them when I noticed I had been rewarded quite a few cars and loads of XP, but you have to actually click on the Accolade to get it. Worth checking.

Like every Forza game, I loaded it up, played for 20 mins, impressed at how fast, smooth and gorgeous it is, realise I hate all the cringe and that the gameplay bores me, switch off.
Great serious for many but really wasted on me.

I'm lazy and just go into the pre-made tunes for everything.
Saw on Reddit that the accolade reward for 3 stars in all events in a story chain is a ridiculous 300MPH beast (presumably with a bit of tuning), so that'll be my next target (think the director chair one is easiest)

Played this all evening. It's been a while since I played a game then suddenly realised it's 1am... On a school night! I'm properly getting into it though. It feels great to play. Initial thoughts...
I absolutely love the Spanish guitar title theme. It's a great little theme, well composed, and sets the tone perfectly. Before even starting the game I sat there doing a bit of riffing over the top of it on acoustic. I'm such a pretentious twat.
The entire playable intro sequence was awesome, although playing in performance mode, I didn't appreciate the 30fps FMVs. Regardless, couldn't this have been done in-engine?
THE GAME KNEW MY REAL NAME. I didn't tell it my name, yet the game audibly calls me by name. Is this the future?
The new in-game menu doesn't look as swish as the old one. In FH4, I really liked the way it zoomed into your car when you brought up the menu, and it served as the menu background. I also liked the flippy cards. The new menu is fine, and is in keeping with the game's aethetic design, and it's functional (which is ultimately what counts) but it's just a bit boring, in contrast with how flamboyant Mexico is.
The menu design is tidier and a little more logical, although I still think things could be grouped far more logically... or at least the things you access commonly could all be gathered on the first tab of the menu. Maybe it's on purpose so you don't ignore the content of the other 5 tabs.
One thing I'm a little confused about are the new "outposts". I chose the "road race" outpost challenge first, and built that outpost, then chose the "Horizon" one second... but there don't seem to be any associated missions with that, just the general Horizon Festival accolades, unless I'm missing something.

The online racing (once you’re connected) is flawless in this. Can see myself spending a lot of time doing that. Elimator mode was a bit odd. Not sure what I was meant to be doing. Couldn’t find a car and then was challenged to race to a point in the map which was typically behind me, by the time I turned round, the other guy was miles ahead and be beetle couldn’t keep up.
Will try out some of the other modes tonight
