So I see that the infamous Xbox 360 Avatar game is one of the new BC offerings. My daughter is a huge fan of Avatar and Korra. Is the game any good, does anybody know? I mean, just as a simple adventure for young kids at least; I'm not expecting Breath of the Wild with Airbenders.

I very much enjoyed my 2 minutes of mashing a button back in the day. 10/10 would recommend.
No idea tbh... It was a rental that got popped back in the post immediately.

I might have a go at Max Payne 3. Especially if boosted...I wish there was a way to see if I had uploaded my save though. I'm not sure if I did or not.

Not boosted unfortunately afaik but still a cracking game. Bit steep at £18 though

Apart from the over long intro when you first put the game on you can actually skip cut scenes now

I imagine what happens is that they just make those games compatible anyway, then try to obtain the license from the publishers. If they can get it even just at the last minute, that's great, otherwise they simply drop them. What would be great is if they still made the updates to those games available for those with the discs or digital purchases prior, but made them unavailable for future purchases until they get any legal issues ironed out. I want to play Jet Set Radio Future and Outrun is what I'm saying.

The 360 dashboard let's you have a closer look at the saves in the cloud. I fetched the 360 from the cupboard just today to check my saves. After uploading a couple of saves manually I can now continue my 96% complete collection on Beautiful Katamari. (like I would)

I want to play Jet Set Radio Future and Outrun is what I'm saying. I'm kind of assuming that's what happened with FEAR, since it's still not available to download anywhere. But we don't even know what kind of legal issues there might be. Maybe they cannot even distribute those conversion files without an explocit approval from the license holder. And Sega might not be very willing to let people play a game on disc format only, because then they'd have to offer support on something that makes them no money. I'm just talking out of my ass, really. I have no idea how any of this works. But the fact that JSRF was on the list until the very end, is still enough to make me keep some hope: it means they knew it was very requested, and they might still try again in the future. Even if they have said it was the final batch, there'd be really nothing stopping them from adding one more title if the license holders came forward and decided to agree to a deal.

Any ideas on why Condemned 2 isn't backwards compatible? Just finished the first and it was brilliant.

It's weird, especially now we have the FEAR games on there as well. I wou'dnt have thought there was any real reason for it not to be. Doesn't ever seem like it will now which is a pity. It's no way near as good as the first but it would have been nice to be able to play through it on BC.

Probably technical. Some oddity. They've said they've pretty much ported everything they can now, everything left either has legal or technical reasons why they can't. Can't imagine Condemned 2 is affected by music rights etc, but who knows.

I think it may be just a cause that they tried to avoid disc-only games unless they were very requested.
Condemned 2 never received a digital release. While both games were released prior to the advent of digital full game sales, it seems that Condemned was eventually put on the marketplace in 2015, but they never bothered with 2, probably because it sold badly.
Me, instead, I wonder why some prices are not the same between the old marketplace and the new one. Condemned is 20 euro on the Xbox One store, but if you look at the old marketplace, it's 5 euro (and will work on Xbox One too). Same thing happened with Panzer Dragoon Orta some months ago: it was 50% off, but only in the old marketplace.
The game was on sale last month, so it's like they forgot to re-enable the original price on the old store?

That's a shame then. I'll have to boot up my old laptop and see if Condemned 2 is passable to play (or wait for the Steam Deck).

In all honesty you only really need to play the first level of Condemned 2, maybe the second, then not bother as it starts to go downhill and never recovers, completely bottoming out at the end.

But what is the old marketplace? Is this something that we can toggle between right now? Or do we simply mean a marketplace from years ago?

Basically those links wunty posted. But specifically, it's the 360 marketplace, which is accessible through a browser or the 360 itself. There's often Deals with Gold sales on there which are lower than purchasing a game on an Xbox One or Series console. As long as the game is on the BC list, it'll work on your current console as well, but beware of buying a digital game that isn't.

Whoa
I knew you could get to something that looked like the old x360 marketplace, but I figured it must be pulling from the same source as the new one for game prices. Apparently not, wonder if there's any other accidental bargains out there.

And thanks for the explanation, @spookyxelectric. I clearly missed an important Font Geek meeting where this was all explained. I'll check it out proper later. I am interested to see if there are a few bargains knocking around for the older games. I wouldn't mind Panzer Dragoon Orta. But not for £10. I am cheap that way.

Apparently not, wonder if there's any other accidental bargains out there. From my knowledge, these accidental bargains are really just old sales that, for some reason, go on for a bit longer on the 360 store. So you are not actually getting any better prices. But you might occasionally find some deal that you missed (it hardly matters though, because at this point, most BC games on sale are the same on rotation every other week). A shame that the titles on sale are always the same. I was actually tempted to pick up Forza Horizon 2 to play on the old 360. But not for its current price of 30 euro. And I don't think it will go on sale now. The game for some reason wasn't delisted together with the Xbox One version, but they behave as if it doesn't exist.

That reminds me, my 360 at home doesn't work anymore, but it appears to be a power supply issue. It's external so it should be an easy replacement. Just not sure if it's worth replacing at this point. There aren't that many games I care about that didn't receive a BC update or a X1/PC port.

Yeah, don't think there is much that will be left behind. I think Fez might be the biggest loss with this. Still on PC at least.

MS should just screw it and put every title on 85% sale next month.
