Thing is Ridge Racer doesn't use licensed tracks. It's all in-house Namco staff. They also worked on the Tekken and Ace Combat series, among others. Katamari, etc. Japanese licensing is usually pretty complicated. Take one example from RR6: one of the composers, Nobuyoshi Sano, actually left Namco in 2001 to join Cavia. He was still free to work with other companies, so that's probably why RR6 has a few tracks of his. But presumably he didn't just give Namco lifetime permission to use his track, he had a licensing deal that only lasted a few years. And that's just the first guy I could find. There's probably many others, considering that every single RR game has been delisted. Even when it comes to doing things in-house, Japanese developers are often contracting freelancers from the outside. Composers in particular, since those aren't all that common in development teams. Edit: no wait, I take it back. It seems that RR6 alone is still available, but only in the USA. It's not available in Japan or Europe. That would still be a problem, since a BC release is usually a worldwide thing. |

Well, I stand corrected. Ridge Racer 6 did make the cut. Unbelievable.
Also the Timesplitters games. And DOA4. And there's FPS Boost for some 360 games too. I'm impressed.

On less exciting news, they confirmed this is the final BC update, basically a one-off goodbye gift. So I guess my dreams of ever seeing Project Zero again (I never really had any hope about JSRF from the beginning) are now well and truly dead.

Yes it's bittersweet that this is the last batch. Although to be fair I got my most wanted x360 games (Sonic & Allstars Racing Transformed and Toy Story 3) fairly early on.
From that list, I think I already own 3 or 4 digitally. Rock of Ages is a silly fun game for with younger kids.

In also very unexciting news, I wonder if some of those games aren't available in all regions. Ridge Racer 6 is still nowhere to be found on the European store, and neither is Otogi. Hopefully they will arrive later.
Anyway, suppose I have no excuse to avoid Sonic Generations anymore.

I tried Generation's when the last update came out and its much easier on the eyes playing on Series X. Super smooth

Should look great in 1440p and 60fps on Series S (though I still need to verify whether the game keeps the upgraded resolution when FPS Boost is on). Edit: seems the update is not out yet. Game is still 30fps at the moment. That actually gives me hope that maybe it will arrive together with those missing games soon. |

Ehm, can anyone confirm if Sonic Generations or Alan Wake or any of the other boosted 360 games are already boosted on the Series X?
Because if it turns out that the Series S alone didn't receive the update, I'm gonna be pissed.

I don't have either installed, but it I go into Compatibility Options, both Auto HDR and FPS Boost are checked for both games. Not sure if that's including 4K/1440p modes though.

Got an error message when I tried to buy Otogi. Advent Rising worked fine though and at just £8.39 I can look past its flaws
