Quite liking the redesigned Prime Video app on my phone and TV. Big improvement although that's not saying much as the previous version was fucking dire and unintuitive. Always hated the way they blended in pay-for content in a service I'm already paying for. Get fucked, fuckers.

I found Amazon’s free with ads not too bad during my Babylon 5 watch but then all the ads were in the places they would have been during the original broadcast. Only they were 30 seconds or less long instead 4 minutes long (or longer All4 and ITVHub) I use Plex for my perfectly legally obtained content, ahem. Their free TV offering has a full 5 minutes of adverts at various intervals for the proper ITV experience. I pay for Plex already you cunts. Also usually get the NFL app each season though the cost is prohibitive so umming and ahhing this season, and even that has ads FFS Yeah, no thanks fuckers, takes me out of whatever I am watching, I don't live in the 70's (except maybe economically , soon, the way this shithole country is going)

We don't get ads with amazon, maybe the odd one at the start of a show/movie but nothing you can't skip and doesn't really bother me.

It's what used to be known as IMDBTV. Pi-hole does a good job of blocking them, not that there is anything much to watch on it.

Freevee has the weirdest selection of content, some of it is properly good or classic and loads of it is landfill shite and there are about three new original shows but there doesn’t appear to be any logic or theme to what ends up there. Beyond “it was cheap” presumably.

Ooh I think my tv’s app must have just updated. Looks like Prime’s solution to their horrible ui is to just nick Netflix’s wholesale?

seeing Paper Girls compared favourably with Stranger Things & released today, might give that a go tonight
edit: first couple of episodes in it leans closer to The Goonies, has a noticably smaller budget than Stranger Things, a bad costume department, some cracking acting, and the episodes are mercifully just ~30 minute affairs. Will prob give it another episode or two tomorrow.

I’ve got a friend who tells me to read it every time I canvas for comic recommendations. Didn’t realise they were even doing a show of it.

A Roadhouse remake with Jake Gyllenhall and Conor McGregor?
Sold.
I've seen Roadhouse many times and I've never really understood what the fuck is going on. Brad Wesley is some rich lunatic who goes about wreaking havoc on this town for no reason. A town which has a massive hospital with hot doctors but zero police. Like where the fuck are they for 99% of the film, people driving trucks through buildings, burning shops in the main road, carrying out multiple murders.
Sorry too busy, just leave it to the violent bouncer/drifter to resolve!
There's just weird shit happening all the time.
Hopefully they make this just as bizarre as the original.

I loved Drive, but they can't turn The Fall Guy into its sequel.

A really underrated aspect of that theme tune is that its purely about how great he is at banging hot chicks.

Lee majors definitely sang the feem choon. I’ve seen him singing it (maybe even on the show). Dunno if he wrote the feem choon.

Who has watched paper girls yet? It sounds perfect to watch with my eldest Daughter (12) who loves stranger things, goonies etc. Basically anything 1980s, but its got a 16+ rating?

yeah, watched all of Paper Girls, my back seat parenting take is that it's fine for a 12 year old. Milder than Stranger Things in terms of scares (this is partly down to lower budget effects), probably a bit more swearing if that's a concern but nothing worse than a liberal sprinkling of fuck*, a twelve year old girl gets her period which I'm sure will enrage all the wrong people but handled admirably from the kid's perspective
Leans very goonies and more suited to a tweenager audience than an adult one I think, very strong child actors, good girl power vibe.
* "liberal sprinkling of fuck" is my new favourite band name

Are you ready to have the period conversation with a twelve year old? Since Brexit, I doubt she’ll be able to have one until she is thirty.

Here is a spicy take: The Fall Guy Truck was the best of the 80s signature TV cars. Better than Kitt and better than the A-Team van. I absolutely fucking *loved* that thing when I was younger.
