Gonna see what they have but yeah that's the plan!
Just been outside and it's windy as hell though. The forecast says it should calm down later so fingers crossed

Was going to smoke some ribs today but I think I jinxed myself saying the weather was settled. Rained off and on all day.

Got some good lamb out of it but the wind was a bastard with getting the charcoal started. What’s everyone’s foolproof way of starting their coals? Do those little blowtorches do the trick?

Get a Kamado!
Failing that, a chimney starter works a treat.

It's looking better next week. But then it was supposed to be this week to and it changed into wet and miserable.
I've got some whiskey wood chips I really want to use.

Wind went a bit mental when I was starting it, but managed to actually have a Bbq today.
Shame it's looking ropey again for the weekend.

Can anyone recommend a cheap barbecue, like £50 or thereabouts, or perhaps the type I should be looking for, in reality it's probably only gonna get used about 4 times a year, capacity will be pretty low, there's likely only to ever be 4 of us max so probably a couple of burgers for the sprogs then a few steaks or something for mum & dad, perhaps something else. I suppose always like the simplicity of the drum type barbecues. I'd quite like a proper barbecue rather than gas but I guess at my budget that's a given. Any suggestions or directions/websites as to where to look appreciated.

Chicken skewers (soy sauce, chilli, tomato sauce and Worcestershire sauce). Fucking brilliant. To answer your question. Bought a Weber BBQ about 10 years ago. Lives in the garden all year. Robust as fuck. Best, at the time, £90.00 spent on a BBQ. Check deals, black Friday, etc. It is well worth it. Peace.

I'd just go on Argos's website, search "kettle bbq" and decide how much you want to pay.
User eleven63 is right though. It's not what you asked, but if you invest in a Weber you'll never have to buy another one.

+1 for the Weber. I've bought one maybe 15 years ago and it's still going strong. It's cheaper in the long run.
I've started the grill season a week ago. I'm far from a professional though. I usually use the wood I've cut in the garden a year ago, no coal. It's all very primal.
Yesterday was a highlight: I had a lamb leg in the oven at around 90°C for almost three hours and threw it on the grill for the final touch. Recomeded.
T-Bone steak tomorrow.

Did steaks last night and they were great, Chimichurri is such a great sauce with BBQ'd steak. Going to costco this weekend and will be all sorts of various BBQ cuts. Brisket and cowboys steaks are the main bits I'm after.

Oh hello. Tell me more about these please. I will no doubt have a costco trip coming up in the next few weeks. Are they thicker/fattier cuts to cook on a bbq?

Similar to the tomahawk cut. Big boys that you'd probably want to consider reverse searing.

Yeah, much thicker and a lot of marbelling through them to stay extra juicy. It's so hard to cock them up because they're such good cuts of meat.

Chimichurri is god tier sauce, I really need to start making my own. It should freeze well?

I would say it should be ok, but feel you'll lose some of the flavour having frozen it. I tend not to freeze as it keeps for quite a while....
Would be interested in peoples sauce recipes... here are 3 of my favorites... Let me know if you have any variations on them.
- Chimichurri - 2-3 long red chillies, seeds removed, finely chopped 10-12 garlic cloves, peeled, finely chopped 2 large handfuls finely chopped curly-leaved parsley, leaves only, finely chopped 4 heaped tsp dried oregano 2 tsp sea salt flakes 5 tbsp red wine vinegar 4-5 tbsp extra virgin olive oil 5 tbsp cold water
- Coriander + Mint Chutney - 2 parts coriander 1 part mint 1 green chilli Salt Sugar Lemon juice Blend Thin out
- Green Salsa - 10 Tomatillos 2 Garlic Cloves 1 Serrano Pepper (or other chilli) 3 tbsp Cilantro 2 Avocado Salt & Pepper to Taste (dry fry first 3 to char a little then blitz with the rest of the ingredients)

Where do you get the tomatillos from? Can never find them anywhere and they are amazing for sauces.

I'd happily just grab a spoon and have a bowl of chimichurri to myself.

Where do you get the tomatillos from? Can never find them anywhere and they are amazing for sauces. I just order it in tins, I live in Bath and there is a mexican shop I pop over to in bristol (clifton village) to get my supplies of dry chillis, masa and tomatillos. You can order them online in various stores and even amazon.
They are amazing in sauces. I was not sure in the fact that they were tinned but they are really good.
My Birria taco game is now out of this world (as a result of adding the green salsa) and my wife would eat them weekly (probably daily sometimes, she loves them), they are labor intensive to cook so I do them monthly.
