My Kamado is the best thing I've ever bought. Think I've said it a few times, but it's so easy to get good results and maintain it almost feels like cheating.

I'd be happy to share, as always it's far too much for our needs. I need to get it in the freezer or fridge otherwise I'll have to cook it in the rain tomorrow. May do that anyway.

I couldn't convince my wife it was worth spending near enough 2.grand on a big green egg, so got the Aldi one for 350.
Its ridiculous value for money with the accessories that come with it.

I'm surprised you haven't heard of them as a fan of the Japanese culture/food.

Also our regular 1kg aged steak came. Given how dodgy the deliveries are round your way, do you just order fresh steak and wait for it to arrive aged?

Just scrape off the layer of mould and you're good to go.

Man I really miss my Weber kettle. I was so into BBQ but haven't been able to do it since moving out of the family home and into a flat.
If ever I move into a bigger place I am 100% getting a kamado.

When we moved into the place I sold my Weber Kettle and bough a Weber Gas E210 as Charcoal Grills weren't "allowed" on the balconies. I since discovered that other neighbours didn't bother their arse with his and I do get tempted by some charcoal goodness...

Usually it's just Carrefour, they have a pretty solid premium butcher in store and have a reliable delivery service. They are better quality than the other supermarket chains as well so we stock up when we order from there.

Smoked some pork and had it with plum sauce over the weekend, was fantastic. Did some chicken thighs too but I think I overdid the smoke and they were a bit tainted; I can’t get past the desire to see smoke billowing out

So.... I've just got my Aldi Kamado delivered, going to cure it this weekend.
I've got a 15KG bag of lumpwood with some nice big pieces. Looking forward to slow cooking some lamb, that lamb you made @rummonkey looks rather nice, was there a recipe for that? Got a Family BBQ in a month so that sort of thing would be perfect.
Any other tips, suggestions, accessories? I'm going to spend a good chunk of this year getting familiar with it so not after anything immediately but would be good to know what else I could get for it.

For the lamb there was no recipe. Just stuffed in garlic nice put of salt and pepper and then seared. Then the heat deflector in to cook slowly with a tray to catch the drippings to make a gravy.
Accessories wise I've got a Meater thermometer and it really is a great bit of kit. Also looking at getting a rotisserie attachment for the Kamado.
And get some smoking chips/logs for extra flavour.

My baffle plate arrived yesterday for my Oklahoma Joe Highland, so today's job is fitting it and doing one last seasoning burn, then I'm ready to low & slow for real.
