Is it really that good? I still haven't seen it because I love the original so much and I'm scared Yup, complements the original without pissing all over cherished memories. Good in its own right too.

Bugger. I forgot Dredd. I watched that 6 times the weekend I bought it alone.
PS Blade Runner 2049 was a serious snoozefest and I couldn't stand it myself, so add me to the people not expecting much from the new Dune.

Number one will always be Dark City. It's the film that got me into film. And then:
All of the Mad Max movies. Yes, even the first one, but especially Road Warrior and Fury Road. It's one of my favourite series.
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (IJatToD). It's the first one I watched, and objectively I know it is flawed and isn't the best one. But it's the first one I watched, which makes it better for me.
My Neighbour Totoro, the best family film ever made as far as I'm concerned
In the Mood for Love
Legend of Drunken Master
Apocalypse Now, The Good the Bad and The Ugly, Once Upon a Time in the West
Fuck... there's so many

The Blues Brothers Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan Live and Let Die Lawrence of Arabia A Bridge Too Far The Wind and the Lion Die Hard Excalibur Ed Wood Trading Places

Like everyone it's difficult to define favourites as that list changes in my mind regularly.
Instead I've gone with 10 films I've watched repeatedly most of them more than 10 or 20 times.
Heat LA Confidential Wolf of Wall Street Goodfellas The Hangover Predator Bad Lieutenant POCNO LOTR Two Towers Chinatown No Country For Old Men

I'm your classic child of the 80s. Can watch Star Wars OT, BBTF, Indy till the cows come home. Also 80s high school stuff, especially Ferris, Weird Science. My No1 all time film is Life of Brian, with Holy Grail also right up there. Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Godfather 1 and 2. All the Connery Bonds. Basically, I can never really narrow things down, a lot depends on my mood.

I’ve been watching a lot of the 80s classics with my eldest daughter recently. Et, gremlins, BTTF, coming to America, goonies, big, karate kid, top gun, ghostbusters, raiders etc. I’d forgotten how wrong a few of them are. Big is just wrong, ghostbusters BJ scene, Indy in raiders of the lost ark being a bit rapey, top guns gay porn volleyball etc.

But it's fine because his plans are foiled and he gets a chestful of hypodermics at the end. 80s/90s films hit different

Soul Man's really odd, because outside of the blackface, its heart really is in the right place, in an 80s way.

Oh and the meaning of life. How can a movie that includes this not be counted among the great? youtu.be/fUspLVStPbkBecause Meaning of Life is shit. Brian and Grail both shit all over it from a great height.

Meaning of Life is just different. It's a load of sketches loosely slung together. It's got some great scenes and songs.

Batteries Not Included, I guess it just came out at an impressionable age. But I watch and enjoy it every year without fail. Just love it.
