I just don’t know how it runs so badly. San An is like a PowerPoint on the series s. How the fuck does it run worse than gta 5?
It’s just so shit, like shockingly bad. And the new controls are terrible. The lock-on in a fire fight *always* targets pedestrians first.
But, yeah, I can’t stop playing it because it’s the best one.

You say that, but Southampton city council wouldn't give me compassionate leave when my Mrs was in hospital and we weren't sure if she had miscarried due to me not being married to her. That was 22 years ago but there you have it. I used to work for a rather big pub chain about 10 years ago and my manager was refused absence for the birth of his own child. Absolutely outrageous. And he complied with it. I'm not sure if the law has changed since then, but it made me so angry.

I was interested in this remake, but the performance/graphical improvements/glitches has made wait to see if it improves. I'll stick to my PS2/Xbox versions for now, even with there shonky aiming and cropped widescreen.

The new controls aren't well implemented. The lock-on locks on to literally anything other than the thing shooting at you. It's absolutely fucking infuriating. You lock onto exploding barrels you are stood next to or pedestrians driving cars behind you, causing you to spin around away from the enemies. Even it it didn't look laughably bad, It is absolutely wank.

Maybe Rockstar have confused "remake" with "demake"

Playing it is actually pretty hilarious, tbf. It’s saving grace is that it’s been a while since I played it so I can’t remember if every car always aimed for you while you’re walking down the street like your pants contained a high powered magnet.
It’s literally impossible to walk anywhere without getting run over.
I didn’t play cyberpunk but I would be amazed if it was a bigger mess than this.

I've seen people say that the enemies have 100% accuracy when shooting at you, at least in GTA3. Noticed that?

I've just been watching somebody stream 'definitive' GTA 3, they've got to patch this. It's not even a question of anybody nitpicking, it's a complete mess.
How much of a rush were they in to release this? How about starting work a few months earlier next time.

I don’t know about 100% but your health bar does get melted a lot faster than it used to. It’s mitigated by the AI being as thick as pigshit so the trick is to never let them shoot. The path finding is hilariously bad so if you stand on a ledge or somewhere they can’t get to, they just run in circles. If they do shoot, though, yeah. You ded.

Just decided to reinstall my old GTA3 Non-Definitive Editon from Steam. Spent literally just five minutes applying a couple fixes. Perfect. Ultrawide, borderless windowed, seems to work in 60fps just fine - I had heard about issues with driving or cutscenes when running above 30fps, but I guess the patches fixed it. And my GPU doesn't even start ramping up the fan. I can only wonder what exactly Rockstar thought was wrong about this version that they needed to port it to UE4. (well, presumably it was necessary to get it running on consoles, but why go for something relatively heavyweight in the first place like UE4, when a basic Unity port would probably do?)

A lot of those are from what I was talking about above. Everything is fucking crazy and aims directly for you. Cars, bikes, pedestrians. It makes doing pretty much anything a nightmare.
And I also had that bridge glitch at five minutes but was going quite fast, missed it completely and wiped out on the face of the ravine.

If they'd remade any of them using the current engine then people would have lost their shit (in a good way), and I'd have paid whatever to experience it. This is just blatant money grabbing, and it makes me both sad and happy that they are getting savaged for it. It really makes me want to replay the originals though.

It's reported that a Rockstar producer says that the games were always like this and anybody claiming otherwise is afflicted with rose tinted spectacles because the definitive editions are using data directly taken from the original versions.
I call bullshit, it's not like you can just cut and paste data into entirely different engines, even porting to the same engine between different platforms is often an issue.

I would love that to be true. I don't remember a single occasion of a mission failing mid cutscene, for example. And wouldn't you want to fix those things when putting something out as DEFINITIVE?

If only there were some way to test this. I'm sure some tech savvy internet sleuths will find a way
I would be inclined to believe him given the excellent care and attention that went into the visual upgrade
