Nah they could still do the scrolling in the ajax callback. But if img tags have no defined height, then the page height will be different after they have loaded.

It’s just a bit weird that it would have to do with the objects loading in at all.
I’ve already read the post with an image, let’s say. I appreciate that the screen might jump about a bit while images are loading, but the end result of pressing the New button should be that the first unread post appears at the top of my screen.

Sort of related, is anyone else experiencing a few bugs with what the site considers "new" to you? It doesn't happen often, but there's a couple threads that I've been closely following and even posted in recently (the latest one I've had the issue with is the Eurovision thread), but when I press the New button on it it takes me to somewhere on the first page...
Nevermind the fact that that particular thread shouldn't have the New button on it in the first place, since I read all the posts on it a while ago...
Edit: I'm almost always on mobile view, btw, unless I need to post an image or video. I don't think I've ever logged in here on a desktop. Or any device other than my phone in general, for that matter, so I doubt different devices are what's causing it...

v6 of Proboards is allegedly coming by the end of the year, and they're running an open beta at the moment. I've created a v6 beta version of Font Geek at: fontgeekbeta.proboards.com/This is for test purposes only and will be wiped out at some point (probably when the v5 to v6 upgrade is available). You'll need to register a new account on there to use it (if you use the same email address as your Font Geek account then they'll both be linked to your Proboards "global" account). When v6 is available as an upgrade for the main forum everything should migrate across though. Give it a go if you'd like to see what hijinks ensue. The main advantage is that there are no separate desktop and mobile sites any more, just one responsive site that works on both. |
