Delving in for the first time tonight, courtesy of my boomerang sub and the £5 upgrade.

I searched just now (on the app, on a phone) and the £5 thing isn’t anywhere to be seen there- is it something you grab from in game or summat? It's on the store. There's a £5 Director's Cut upgrade, I did it earlier.

Looks very nice and the haptics are excellent. Well worth a fiver for the upgrade. I've carried my save across (wasn't that bad for me thankfully) but I haven't got a fucking clue what I'm doing anymore.

Is there anything to be had from loading up a NG+? Thinking I might just start again and slowly replay it, when I fancy a walk like.

I started again from scratch. I think spending £45 to just do a bit more stuff on top of where I was last time around, isn’t much fun.
Starting fresh is excellent. That prologue is so good.
The graphics are stunning. Quality mode doesn’t drop in frames either…. Full 4K with 60fps?!

Yeah, that'll be enough to get me back in. I stopped playing previously because I got distracted by other things, but I loved almost everything about the game. So more than happy to jump back in, especially if it does a better job of explaining the systems.

I bought the £5 doodat, couldn’t see it on the console store still, but put my PS4 disc in and it was offered on the pop up window associated with that.
I absolutely rinsed the game, think I nearly platinumed it, so I don’t think I’ve got it to play through again. There was an NG+? I can’t remember!

Absolutely loved this so no question I picked up the upgrade for £5. Won't import my save, will start a new game fresh at some point next year.

Downloaded both the ps4 and ps5 version and imported my save. Although I probably will just start again. Going to save it from when I'm done with diablo 2 and the ghost of Tsushima expansion.

I quite enjoyed it when it came out but never finished it, loaded up the PS4 version to do the save transfer fully expecting I'd have to cancel some orders to transfer the save and I didn't have anything outstanding so a piece of piss for me at least. The firing range allowing you to practice combat when you've completely forgotten the controls is bloody handy, as is the fact it takes practically no time to restart when you inevitably fuck up.

Loving it! I bought the ps4 disc a little while back and waited until the ps5 upgrade.
Can't wait to play more.

So far so good. Beautiful to be back hiking around doing deliveries in this part-horror game.
Anyone else think the HDR/brightness levels aren’t quite right? Just looks a bit darker in places than it should.

That didn't last long. I got to the first major cut scene, when you meet del Toro, and I skipped it. Fuck all that for a game of soldiers, second time around.

I played through the standard version earlier this year. I really enjoyed it, but came away thinking I’d have enjoyed it a lot more if it hadn’t had all of the BT bollocks. The game worked best for me when it was you versus the environment. The sneaking around part just wasn’t as much fun. Give me a sequel where I can just hike around the landscape and I’ll be very happy.

I've just started this and I'm hearing that individual manual save files can't be deleted (unlike PS4) causing the game file to keep growing and growing. Apparently you have to delete ALL saves to stop it growing out of control.
I paid like 300 quid for an internal SSD but memory on PS5 is by no means generous.
Anyone got any ideas?

The BT stuff offers up some of the most gripping, horror I’ve played in a game.
Doing a nice hike to then find yourself in the middle of that nightmare is edge-of-the-seat stuff. You have to balance so much shit, literally, including making sure to use container repair spray in whilst being surrounded by them.
This game has elements of everything, from stealth to combat, horror, building and relaxing exploration. Now racing too.

ChocNut - it sounds like that's being blown a little out of proportion. The saves "balloon" up to around 1GB total, which isn't exactly going to cause huge issues. I just wouldn't worry about it tbh. Definitely a bit annoying that there's no way to delete individual save files now, though.

Have just read a GamesRadar article about the Director’s Cut which makes me think I wasn’t the only one who felt DS would have been a better game if they removed the clunky combat and stealth bits, or at least gave you a means to avoid them.

The horror element went out the window a bit for me when you could just spam blood grenades around to get out of BT encounters.

I actually quite like the stealthy bits, going into wiped out cities avoiding BTs was scary as hell.

Loved DS the first time I played it but the combat was so simple as to be nothing more than an inconvenience. Like gremmi said, once you get the blood grenade and the bola gun , combat is a joke. I tried starting a new game but just wasn't feeling it. Having to wait for all the upgrades you'll get later on made it feel like a bit of a chore the second time around and the story never landed for me. Didn't finish it the first time but maxed out all locations and then got distracted by something else and never felt like going back just to see the end of the story

I don't know if I got on with the game all that well. It was too grindy, too eclectic and at some point, became too overwhelming with the new shit to learn. I put the game down for a couple of weeks, which was the death of it.

The horror element went out the window a bit for me when you could just spam blood grenades around to get out of BT encounters. Indeed. Which just made those bits tedious. I dunno, I didn’t mind so much when you had to sneak into BT-occupied cities to get stuff. What I really disliked was when you had to get to A to B for a delivery, and the game would stick BT encounters on all of the sensible routes between the two. It felt like they were being shoehorned in to the narrative.

It's even more annoying when you've finished the game and you just want to try and deliver shit across treacherous terrain.

The game does a great job of making things sound much more complicated than they actually are - typical Kojima really I had the most fun when I had completed all the roads and was just driving up and down them with a full truck picking up and delivering along the way Oh and building a network of zip lines across the mountains
