Is it all on there or weekly? I've got a 6 month apple thing with the PS5 to use so I've been waiting for this.

Two episodes to get you started.

I’m into this. Very high production values and a hard sci fi edge to it. A bit Dune like I feel. The Empire are spot on and the ‘Mathematicians are Ace’ tip that A.C.C went for is present and correct. Very promising start.

Gave up after 25 minutes. It’s high budget design by committee shit so far. Dull and lifeless

It's pretty true to the book tbh. Completely soulless.

Getting real Dune vibes from this, lots of funny words and made up worlds. Initially makes it all baffling but once got into it actually pretty decent. But by god is it stuffed with 'stuff' that really should be unpacked properly.
Will it only ever be 3 episodes?

10 episodes for this season, show creators have spoken about an 8 season arc/scope. Lets see if it gets anywhere near that.
I fell asleep during the first episode, but then I was tired. Gave it another go and have to say the first 2 episodes sat well with me, its been a long time since I read the books and am enjoying this as an adaption. looking forward to seeing where its going, interesting end to the 2nd episode also.
Have to say the world building and production values are off the scale, teenage me would have been very happy.

Who is playing Hardin, incidentally? I absolutely loved the first novel when I was a kid, and I did re-read it again maybe ten years ago. Looking forward to this, but as my Apple TV Family Sharing is no longer working now I'm out of the UK, I may have to time a cheeky trial sub to binge the lot when it's out.
Edit: Interesting, I see they've cast Leah Harvey. Hardin's a great character, will be cool to see a different take on the role.

Caught the first episode by nefarious means this evening. Really enjoyed it- nice to see SF where the pew pews aren't the main thing.
The main problem I've got is that Hari Seldon looks like a slightly more raddled Charlie Brooker.

Done the two episodes, absolutely loved it. It’s a bit early games of thrones mixed with dune and early Star Wars. It also looks as good as any movie I’ve ever seen. This could be massive

It's very pretty isn't it. The acting is dragging it down to earth a bit though. As much as I like him in comedy Reece Shearsmith shouldn't be anywhere near stuff like this. And why bother giving him an American accent? In space? Where half the people are speaking with English accents?

I read the books a long while ago, but I don't know if I can be arsed with this. It's not exactly a fun premise, but quite current what with civilisation ending climate change. Dunno... Maybe I'll watch out after a few bevvies this weekend

Watched the first two episodes tonight. Enjoyed it a lot. It's sort a slow burn but that also has a ton of stuff happening. It looks lush too.

I had completely missed this one. Could be interesting. At the very least I did like the first three books.

Just watched the first two episodes. It's delicious epic sci fi but I'm pretty sure that second episode is a complete departure from the original story?

That is one hell of an overtly harsh and shit review. "The TV series also wants to be Game of Thrones with its political maneuvering (most of which is invented wholesale for the show), but once Hari Seldon’s spaceship takes off, those imperial politics have virtually nothing to do with the Foundation." That being the biggest bullshit line of the entire review. There is plenty and I mean plenty of political manoeuvring in the first book and so far even in the second book. The guy that wrote that sounds like a disgruntled fanatic.

Well io9 (and Gizmodo ultimately) are a shadow of what they once were. I can't comment on the show as I haven't seen it, I just liked the headline.

I can't say it's setting my world on fire, but it's my brand of sci-fi (low on the pew-pew) and seems to have a decent budget. Bit of scenery chewing going on from time to time, and the obligatory "let's fuck!" scenes thrown in there for the teenagers, but despite that I'll certainly keep watching and see where it goes.

The irony being that I know very little about the foundation books (shamefully little, for a fully paid up nerd) and it felt like they missed a lot of story *out*.
It constantly felt like someone had turned over two pages at once as the plot lurched from one thing to another with little explanation. I had assumed the book was like 1000 pages or something and they had trouble condensing it down.

6 episodes in and it really is feeling like a turgid wet dream of some shitty writers that spunk into the mouths of apple tv execs. It comtinues to look awesome but the story is shit. The end sequence of the latest episode...why the fuck did it take that long for a ship to take off? Was that their attempt at building suspense?!
I'm starting to agree with that io9 review now. Even without the foundation brand it seems a shit story with a big budget. They have 4 more episodes to make it worthy of the name.

Yeah, it ain’t great. It’s just a bit boring. It set up a few mysteries and I’m not that arsed about finding out about them
The first episode invasion was also phone checkingly dull so I’m hoping that was just a misguided ’get to know the characters’ deliberate slow burn before the action kicks in.

Yeah it's a shame because it looks fantastic but I've pretty much given up on it now. It's just so lifeless and dull.

From reviews I’ve seen invasion doesn’t improve in the first three episodes. They seem to have forgotten the invasion part of the site.

Just watched the second episode and I’m probably done. It’s like the first 10 minutes of Independence Day stretched out to nearly two hours and if the plot followed some random housewife rather than Will Smith.
I appreciate that they are probably literally going for that, ‘what if Independence Day but from the perspective of the people who got their houses blown up and didn’t know what the fuck is going on?’ but the problem with that is that it’s really, really, really boring because normal people aren’t interesting enough to base an entire series on.
‘Oh no! All this weird shit is happening! But anyway, back to my husbands affair’. Booooooooooriiiiiiiiiiiing.
