Bosch.
Missed out on this before. It's fun, but Titus can't act for shit. I wish they chose a stronger lead. I love the amount of guest actors though, especially all the star trek ones!

I have a bit of a love/hate thing with Bosch. Titus was never my Harry Bosch from the books but he's ok. I have come around to him. I am a couple of seasons behind but looking forward to finishing it.
I'm on a rerun of Friday Night Lights. It's a bit cheesy and YA but I love it. Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose!

Having never read the books but enjoy the show, how is Bosch meant to be? Who'd be your pick as an actor?

Bosch for me was always someone like Charles Bronson. At the start of the books, he's a grizzled Vietnam and LAPD vet (been a while since I read the first but from memory he was in his late 40s/early 50s). Obviously time has moved on a bit so that wouldn't work now. Not sure who I would have cast when the TV show started - maybe Brolin or someone like that.

I have just realized that Bosch *isn't* James Nesbitt!
*mind blown*
Never actually watched it mind you, but I've seen the poster image so many times on my TV and I always assumed it was him.

Lilyhammer is just gold all the way through so far. Anything gets an automatic extra star from me just for having Alan Ford in it.

Started midnight mass and really enjoying it. Has the right amount of weirdness and mystery.
The pregnant lady looks like if you spliced prime Angelina Jolie with Jlo. Angelina Jlo if you will. I can't unsee it every time she appears on screen.

Six episodes into Space Above & Beyond and a far right populist has led France into leaving the EU

Just started the first episode of the new Dexter - I'm foolishly hoping for a return to the early series in tone.

Valley of Tears on More4 - the Israeli show on the Yom Kippur war. Some very dodgy ham-acting aside, and most of the cast playing absolute idiots, it does have some nice tank porn.

How does Space - Above & Beyond hold up? I imagine it might still hold up pretty well.

Really well. Space battle cgi is a bit dated but the rest looks really good. The writing is solid too, very grounded.
McQueen’s intensity as he goes after the Baron still hits hard.
Honestly, a lot of it easily matches shows ten years newer like Firefly. Mostly because of all the location shooting and practical effects. Rarely has the obvious studio look contemporary series like Star Trek and Babylon 5 had.

On the cgi its quite inconsistent too. There are a lot of reused shots and some stuff looks a lot less well constructed than others. The carrier and most of the Chig ships look quite PS1 and 2 but the fighters can look very good at times. Nothing immersion breaking though, if you remember the show is 25 years old now.

I'm finding Midnight Mass more amusing than I'm probably suppose to Riley catching fire on the boat also got a laugh. Probably doesn't help that I couldn't stand him and was glad he was gone. He's got such a miserable face, when he's not looking disgusted
Seems to be doing that weird thing that zombie films/TV shows do, where no one in the show has heard of vampires I am enjoying it though Beverly is a true believer
One thing I've noticed is people going on massive monologues while another character just stares at them
The doctor asks the sheriff to look into what's going on with the church and in reply he literally gives his life story and then starts swearing at her! He also says somewhere in his speech "I don't overshare" lols
It's probably good it's only a mini series so won't outstay its welcome

Watching Dexter: After Dark. Enjoying having a show to look forward to weekly rather than having it all there straight away. First two episodes are decent enough. Feel i can see where it's going so I hope it doesn't go that way.
Michael C Hall is great as Dexter and the setting in the snow is amazing.

My mind must have completely erased it from my memory but this X-Files episode Space is an absolute stinker. Coming off the back of Ice too, it never stood a chance.

I don't know if I'm going to watch the Dexter revival or not. It's not something I loved that was ruined by the ending (see: Game of Thrones), so it getting a new chance at an ending is not all that important to me. It was more something that I liked in dribs and drabs, and just lost interest in.
That being said... it has Clancy Brown in it, and I watch things that have Clancy Brown in them. So there is that.

Aunt AlisonLate to reply to this but the big monolgues were one of my (many) bugbears about the show. They go on and on and on. That sheriff one was a prime example. Completely out the blue and it was almost like "shit we haven't told anyone his backstory so lets shoehorn it in here". The more I think back on MM the less I like it. A complete misfire.

Just tried the first episode of Stath Lets Flats. It elicited a few chuckles and the pigeon caper was excellent.
Hadn't realised Robert Popper was involved so it's going right up the list.

I watched the dvd extras where the writers and Robert Llewellyn talk about their experiences of going to the US to make that. The writers make it sound terrrible (though I sense they aren't totally unbiased) and Llewellyn says he got paid more for it than you'd get for several series in the UK. Apparently him being the only original cast member caused quite a bit of jealousy among the other original cast) Now compare UK Cracker with US Cracker. Clive Owen looks so weird as Bill Clinton in the new American Crime Story No way that's Clive Owen! I can't imagine being able to suspend belief at the weird hair and makeup and prosthetics enough to actually appreciate the show.

I've continued watching the show Chucky and after being lukewarm on it at the start, it's really come into its own. Still as dumb as a bag of rocks, but gloriously so.
Recommended.
