It was OK, but yeah pretty darn different. I'd say just stick with S1 too.

Hmm, really wish it was still on iPlayer. Or any service other than ITVX.

I started watching Bad Monkey on Apple+ after seeing some positive reviews. It's not awful, but I did meh out of it part way through episode 1. Just not very interesting.

Shame... I'm a sucker for a Hiaasen book and this sounded like it could be a solid enough adaptation. (which there hasn't exactly been a great track record of)

the terror that arctic expedition one? Wasn't that The North Water with Colin Farrell? Those two and Against The Ice all coming out at about the same was a good time for C19th Arctic survival stories

The Boys S4
I don't know if I'm getting old or soft but this show is starting to feel a bit too mean-spirited and misanthropic to me. What happened with Hughie's dad... fuck. Also there seems to be a LOT of sexual-based violence/torture this season.

Every tourism board in the world should show this show on their website. To scare people off of smuggling drugs across borders. #

Also there seems to be a LOT of sexual-based violence/torture this season. Yeah I finished S4 last night and I didn’t really enjoy it at all. At times I actually hated it. With the writing being so on the nose with the current politic world it kind of lost any zip and energy in its writing and crossed this line into as you say something mean spirited and misanthropic. I had caught wind that the season received mixed reviews but I just kind of assumed that gamer gaters were upset because of ‘reasons’ but it’s a straight up badly written season that leans into 2000 era shock value for the sake of it. A shame because I really enjoyed the show up till now.

Am just about to start Slow Horses from the beginning. Love Gary Oldman and it seems pretty good in reviews.
Also, if this is useful to anyone, you can get 3 months of apple tv at the moment for free (which is how I got this). Offer ends 22nd Sept

There's a 3 month trial too if you just sign in to the PS5 (and 4 perhaps) app.
Slow horses is ace. Nearly finished the first season and I'd say it's absolutely essential viewing for Gary Oldman fans. He's excellent in it.

And excellent news - he's one of my super favs!

Yeah, should've said it didn't work for me as I'd nabbed the last one. Got a free 3 month trial with my phone contract though. They're handing them out like sweeties!

Yeah, I probably should have mentioned - the deal is only for new subscribers, or people coming back as verified, whatever that means. That's the deal from a non-ps article BTW, possibly not the one dfunked is on about direct via ps (or maybe is, who knows)

I think on here is the only place in my life I ever hear of people who’ve actually even watched anything on it.

I think on here is the only place in my life I ever hear of people who’ve actually even watched anything on it. You've never heard anybody talking about Ted Lasso? I'd say it's almost replaced Netflix in second place as far as mentions of specific shows go at this point (in my admittedly fairly limited social interactions) There was a bit of a buzz about Baby Reindeer, but that's about it recently.

Slow Horses Black Bird Ted Lasso Presumed Innocent Severance Shrinking (funniest/best thing I watched last year)
All great watches on Apple TV.
We ditched Netflix a few months ago (was costing us 17.99 when I dropped it) and haven't missed it. Baby Reindeer seemed to be the only high quality thing we've watched on there in a while.

Ted Lasso always seemed like one of those things that people said was big but no one at work or friend groups actually talked about watching or recommending it when folk were asking for new shows.
Baby Reindeer has been the biggest show specific “must watch” discussed among the people I know with more mainstream tastes recently.
I suppose someone must be watching AppleTV otherwise they wouldn’t be pouring cinema budgets and stars into tv shows for everyone to scroll passed on their free trials.

Also Silo, the US WW2 bomber thing, Foundation, Sunny, Pachinko (just started that).
