Currently drinking a "Zoet & Zalig Apfelstruddle Quadruple"
It's pretty immense. 9.3% and tastes, well, like apple strudel imbibed with, I dunno, Special Brew. I think I like it.

Bought some aquavit: Nuet. Like a smoother and mellower gin.

Woodford Reserve is £20 in Asda. Price matched on Amazon, of at least it was when I spotted it on HUKD the other day. I'm kind of glad that I drank way too much whisky in one night as a teen and put myself off anything vaguely similar for life (brandy, bourbon, whatever...), as there's just too much choice of allegedly good stuff out there.

I think fate just wants me to be an alcoholic.
I said to my family "Hey, please don't get me alcohol for Christmas, I'm trying to drink less". And of course, the one person I forgot to tell this to, got me a bottle of whiskey.
I'm doomed, aren't I :/

Aperol spritzes to finish off the fizz now all the folk have left.
We've tidied up & can finally relax.
Maybe a beer later.
Eaten some cold pigs/blankets & a little turkey.
And two packs of chocolate coins.
Stick a fork in me, I'm done. 😀

Made a St Germain Spritz with the champagne. Googling for ideas... To find out what that is. Sounds refreshingly flowery. Nice?

Just cracked open the Laphroaig 10 cask strength 😎 At 60.1% I probably won’t be up late tonight 😂

Ooof, that's a kick and a half!
On the Poretti tonight. I have no idea if it's just been brewed to compete with Moretti, or if it's a proper Italian beer, but I quite like it.

Poretti sounds like the Aldi version of Moretti.
Had to Google to see that it wasn't.

It's exported by Carlsberg Italia. But given only the cans of Moretti are imported these days (and way better) with the bottles and draught brewed under licence, I doubt there's much difference between the two.

Had a few Bristol Brewery beers tonight.
The "salted chocolate bigger cinder toffee stout" was a rich 10% imperial strength dessert stout, and the "cherry pie and vanilla ice cream sour" was fairly luxurious.
The "old fashioned stout" caught me off guard though. It wasn't old fashioned like, traditional, it was old fashioned like the whisky cocktail. Taste of Angostura Bitters and bitter orange.
Quite nice though.
Needless to say this evening has made a mockery of my "drink less and be less of a fat twat" resolution

I had 2x Leffe 0% (after going to the gym).
I realise that's probably not helping...
I am going for dry January though.

Yeah, I had 2 Punk AF. I have bought a couple of Ghost Ship 0% for tomorrow. Will stick with Punk AF and some nice flavoured tonics for tonight.

Couple of the 620ml bottles of Asahi to wash down the Szechuan aubergine, then a nice bottle of malbec so I can slip slowly into a nice, drunken coma. Got the sofa bed all read for it too.

Guinness. Started off with a (shared) bottle of Lambrusco Di Modena - proper stuff, comes with a cork for god's sake. Highly recommended, 8%, so nice and light. And it's fizzy 🥂

I’ve been enjoying Brooklyn Special Effects. Non alcoholic gin is also pretty good.
Lucky Saint gets a recommendation too. Tastes very clean.
There was an article in the Telegraph about how these drinks are actually bad for you. But I can’t read it because it’s behind a paywall. So chug away.

I read the main bit of that article (before the Paywall slammed down) and mostly is on about the sugar in them, so nothing overly sinister or not blindingly obvious.

Asahi "Super Dry"
Easily my favourite lager, principally because it comes in 620ml bottles. 2 for £4 at the shop over the road.

I love the Northern Monk Death Star Ep.II Imperial Stout 12% I've basically found myself drinking imperial stouts and IPAs recently, and somehow pretending that's better than just chugging Special Brew. I mean, it is, because it tastes better. But really... Anyway I'm on the Tripel Karmeliet tonight. and a couple of Suntory Toki blended Japanese whiskies.
