Nice problem to have that Ronaldo He's killing me. What a header. He's brilliant at that, obviously but we put in 0 other crosses of that quality. Hence why I see it as a problem. Anyway I'm with Scholes in his assessment of the game overall. Yes it was an exciting second half but being in that position in the first place was pretty disgraceful.

Yep, we should not be falling behind in every. Fucking. Game. It's clear something needs to change but hey, got to take these small moments of joy where you can get them right now.

Amazing you think he's the problem we don't put crosses like that on a consistent basis, rather than the coaching and team.

Also, savage is, frankly a disgrace. I know the English channels always go in for a bit of bias for all of the English teams but he was way way over the top.
Talks a load of shit. Nobody can ever criticise Ronaldo or Ole because sometimes they can come back from 2 down to win a game? Piss off you fucking mong

He's bigger than Ole but the team doesn't play to his strengths and he also can't drop him.

Anyway all that said at least we were actually somewhat cohesive in an attacking sense tonight.
If we could absorb even a small bit of attacking pressure without conceding and produce similar quality in attack we might win some games in the league soon.

The protection he's had, after watching these same fucking muppets tear absolute strips out of LVG and Mourinho on a weekly basis for the exact same sort of performances just goes to show what a horrible system using ex-players for 'expert analysis' is.
There isn't a single fucking facet of football that doesn't have the old boy's club mentality in this country.

Ah, just the way you phrased it earlier with Ronaldo as the problem seemed it was solely him as the issue.
You get a player like that you have to build around him. Fergie did it.

Tbh, I have little faith that he’ll change now, though. He’s scraping by and it seems sufficient. How many times can he play McFred sitting deep like that with an attack that doesn’t press? Indefinitely, apparently. I’m struggling to remember a time when he set the side up differently, or made a sub that wasn’t a straight swap. Results aside, he’s gone as far as he can - and then probably a few steps further.

McFred are literally the best combination in midfield out of the options he has. That may not be good enough but I think most of our better performances are with the two of them in the team.

Yeah it's by far the best we have. Fred is basically the only actual CDM we have. Matic isn't a tackler, and McT is a box to box really. If Fred wasn't making 5 to 10 mistakes every game he might even be decent.

How would we know when he almost never plays anyone else? And I'm not sure which midfield you've been watching. Performances like tonight occur in spite of those two, not because of them. They're as bad a centre midfield - over and over and over again - as I've seen play for United since I've been watching them.

Everyone's just pointing at them now because that's the area we spent money in the longest time ago now. Last season we were a right winger, a striker and a partner for Maguire away from challenging. Now it's because of them 2. We'll sign a DM and it'll be the goalkeeper, or we'll need a replacement for Pogba, or Ronaldo. It's excuses after excuses after excuses.
There's not one single player in that team playing well enough that you could argue they'd get into the first team of one of our rivals, despite plenty of them definitely being good enough players.

I’m not talking about buying more players, I’m thinking more about trying different formations or being able to change tactics when things aren’t working right. Instead, we plough on with the same thing over and over and over again.

“The singing section”? Fuck me. How embarrassing. To be fair, if you have 30,000 tourists and prawn sandwich eaters at every home game, makes sense to try preserve a section for those who’ll chant like eejits and stand all game. Ideally wouldn’t be needed at all but glad they’re there rather than not.

Well that was emotional.... Great night and what a finish, the football was lousy but we got the result and the atmosphere at the end was great.
Those real supporters sang and sang and sang and lifted us to that win, possibly.
For what it’s worth I was speaking to sammy McIlroy at half time, he said he didn’t think the team will win anything under the current manager. He was trying to be diplomatic but you could tell he had no time for the current regime.
Oh yeah Ole out please

For me, a successful manager will be able to do two things. Implement a tactical system and help the players at his disposal play as close to their potential as possible. Some managers can get individuals to play well but aren’t up to it tactically. Some managers have all the tactical intelligence they need but can’t seem to get the most out of their players. If you want to be a top 4/5 team in the prem, you need a manager who can do both. It’s why I’m concerned about Arteta. He may well have the tactical grounding (though that’s up for debate tbh) but he certainly does not get the best out of his players. Same can be said for Ole. Maguire/Sancho/Van De Beek/Pogba etc are all better than they play under Ole. It’s on the manager when that happens consistently IMO.

Fantastic entertainment for the second time in a row in the CL.
First half was really bad defensively, but we could have scored 2 ourselves.
Fantastic second half.
Glad misery Clem was there too to cry into a balti pie because Ole's got a stay of execution until Sunday.
You're also on Maguire's case now? Why? He's been consistently great since we signed him. Let's get a witch-hunt going for him too yeah?

But I think there'd be other suitors for him too and neither of us will necessarily be the most attractive destination for him if money isn't his primary concern.
