Gah! I just accidentally came across a Reddit post showing the Twinblade with an enchant called the Bloodflame Blade, which basically turns the weapon into red dual lightsaber! I. MUST. HAVE. IT.

Thanks wunty. So just standard upgrades to +5? It's only D for dex at base and +1, presumably that improves? Standard goes beyond +5 but it was only then I saw a benefit to making it keen and increasing the dex scaling tbh

Margit down! Taken since Friday to down this bastard. Gave up and went adventuring over weekend with the occasional return to him when I leveled up the weapon or found something new that seemed neat but could never kill him. Until last night. I grinned like Gowron holding a blade when the fucker went down.

Yay got the fancy staff. Caelid is no joke! There's quite a powerful gravity based spell in that location too addy, not far from where that staff is . It's bloody awesome!

Whereabouts did you find that item you mention Rob? I kind of got there in a round a about way, but I think it was close to the agheel lake south bonfire. There was a statue on the edge of the cliff with this underneath . I can be a bit more specific later if needed when I get back on. Cheers Rob 👍! I'll have a pootle over to that location when I get back on ER this evening.

It already does bleed from base though, doesn't it? It's mentioned in the stats, but I haven't seen it inflict any bleed status on enemies yet.

Has anyone killed Nokstella? If so do you know how to get to the next section of the map/area?

Have you been to the lovely family friendly resort of Caelid? I haven’t but I fancy some R’n’R so I’ll head down there tonight I have found another staff and I have not been to Caelid yet. Don't ask where I got it from though as I have no idea. When I get home I will see if there are anything in the description to give me an idea.

You'll definitely start to notice it on more "fleshy" enemies. It's really effective. I love my uchi.
That said. The flail does even more bleed, and it also scales with dex.

Also, with this Godric Knight armour. The alternative version is sans cape. Cape or no cape. Hmmm...
See armour alterations. What's the point exactly, anyone know? It looks to slightly alter the base stats and, in this instant, change a few visual details. Any other point to it? The stat changes are very minor, as are the visual changes.

I feel like I've died at least 50 times today, to various things.
I don't really want to resort to looking at OP build guides and the like, but I don't feel like I'm making much progress here.
It doesn't really help that upgrade materials are (so far) pretty limited. I feel like I could get over the hurdle if my weapons hit a bit harder.
Or I could git gud, I guess. It's weird though, I never remember having this much trouble with Dark Souls.

monkman5000 I think it's in the chest at the back of one of the chariots near the gate front ruins? Could be wrong though.

suicida True. More important that the stats, is how it looks. It's funny, I just like looking like a proper "knight" in these games sometimes. The Godric Knight set is cool, minus the helmet which is a bit OTT. The regular Godric helms aren't actually too bad but I want to keep looking for a better helm. Oh, actualy, if anyone knows where the merchant is that sells a crusader type helm please let me know. Saw it once, didn't buy it, can't remember where the hell he is!

Cheers wunty, not sure I know where that is but I'll have a gander Basically the first set of ruins you get to in Limgrave, where you found the very first map fragment.

I don't really want to resort to looking at OP build guides and the like I'm starting to realise that trying to up Vigor, Faith, Strength, *and* Dexterity was fucking stupid. So in my case it's not an OP build I'm looking for, just a vaguely competent one. Cashed in all of my golden rune pouches this morning (woke up stupidly early, fuck starting work) or whatever they're called and got myself to level 25. Also went down one of the big things you can go down in and found a quite wondrous place... that kicked my teeth in. Fun times.

monkman5000 I think it's in the chest at the back of one of the chariots near the gate front ruins? Could be wrong though. I have one (flail), but need to up dex a bit to use it properly and think wunty is right, it was near the ruins/church area. There are two wagons with guards which have chests hidden in them. Messages by them will help find them. The reduvia needs some arcance buffs to use, but i have been buffing dex, str and end for my samurai just now. Got mullered by some large wolf man thing when i decided to go up from the ruins due to running out of arrows, although i had a load made, but had to work out how to equip them first. This game is obtuse and I have not played BB, DS2/3 for ages, so am having to remind myself how to do stuff. I fail badly at horse combat too. Any tips, or just git gud?

It's weird though, I never remember having this much trouble with Dark Souls. I saw someone say that, if you enjoyed the sense of discovery of BOTW and Skyrim, you might not necessarily enjoy Elden Ring, because every new discovery will kill you in five seconds straight, so that repetition becomes a natural part of the experience, which was never really the case in BOTW. The network test was all I needed to know to stay away for now. It seemed harder than the average Souls, not easier. Maybe I'll jump in when I'm less busy, at which point the game will be cheaper too. Right now I just can't be bothered with a massive time sink. Also I remember when people here said that Margit was probably just made harder for the sake of the network test. Haw. So naive.

This game has just the right balance in my opinion. I felt like I was hitting a brick wall with Godric and 2 or 3 mini bosses, roamed about exploring stuff, leveled up a bit. Went back to Godric and got him down after 4 attempts then cleared out a few other mini-bosses and a npc invasion. Great stuff.

I fail badly at horse combat too. Any tips, or just git gud? Don't forget that pressing circle on horseback will start Torrent at a gallop and keep you at that speed until you stop. Sometimes mounted combat is harder if you're galloping the whole time. I kind of treat it almost like a joust whenever I'm fighting anything. Charge from a distance, choose a side and get a hit or two in. If I feel comfortable stopping and circling them I'll do that too but hit and run is always my go to, especially when fighting another mounted fucker.

Re: upgrade materials - it's really just worth exploring, exploring and exploring. There are a few enemies that seem to drop them (imp statue bastards for one, but I other enemies have definitely dropped them as well). I seem to have discovered enough to nearly +6 three weapons, and I wouldn't say at any time I've been actively hunting for them.
The Weeping Peninsula south of Limgrave is an entirely optional area from what I gather, and is host to a shit load of stuff. Worth doing before Stormveil as it seems to be pitched around the same as the rest of Limgrave.

I think it's a bit easier than average Souls, so far. Not by much, but there are little things, like the stakes of Marika and the flask refills for killing groups of enemies.
Though I haven't taken Magrit on yet.
