I'm on PC. 2080 running at 1080p on my living room TV. Got everything at max. There are some frame rate drops, but it's not been deal breaker for me yet. I can also drop the settings if I get annoyed.
I turned off easy anti cheat as when I started with it on I was getting stutters. But that's gone for me. Overall, it pretty fine for me. If you're particularly triggered by non locked frame rate then YMMV.

Got to disagree somewhat, it‘s pretty stuttery and jerky on the PS5. It never seems to reach 60 fps.

I've taken about 30 screenshots, most of them have me crouching in the foreground to stop my character filling half the screen like a numpty, cursing the lack of photo mode all the while. I've just found the telescope. D: Well talk: Did anyone light all the braziers? The big guy seems quite manageable compared to the rest of the area

Got to say horse combat against crowds of lesser foes is a doddle once you lock on them one at a time and just circle around them on their non-shield arm. The camera is the hardest thing about those fights.

It is a lot smoother with no stutter. Obviously not as sharp but worth a go until it gets fixed. The saves don't work with each other unfortunately.

It stutters in very particular places on the PC. Weirdly, like for a second or two, then it stops and everything is buttery smooth again.
Anyway, despite my stated goals for a good fisting, the game seems to want to give me bigger and heavier weapons. Most recently a big hammer, that I took from a man with a big hammer.

I believe I have that hammer. I am very happy with it

I really shouldn't be in this thread because even just rushing through it and barely reading the non-hidden parts is cranking up the ass temps something fierce (luckily Legends Arceus is doing an excellent job tiding me over) but I just wanted to say an early thank you to neems for the important missable items posts, they'll probably be much more useful than mucking about on the wiki trying to dodge spoilers left and right And with that I'm out again, have fun everyone ffs dispatch it already you baguette-binging bastards

Just got murdered by a giant nameless horror deep below Stormveil Castle. Can we talk about how From have somehow managed to pivot effortlessly from S-tier linear level design to S-tier open world design? This game really is something else. Remember when we were all sceptical that open-world Dark Souls would work? They've absolutely nailed it, and best of all, those more linear, tight and twisting levels are here too! That in the catacombs? I found a path in, but it was full of imp-like stone cat things. I ran off after entering a room where they were on the mezzanine above me

It scrapes along the ground them lifts all enemies up in the air. 50 strength now.

So is the general consensus that it's a bit easier than Souls/Sekiro?

I dunno, I seem to be dying at a similar rate to the souls games. But maybe it is easier and I've just gotten shitter.

Definitely easier than Sekiro. I bounced right off that.

It. Has. Arrived. Despite my intention to start on day one with you lot, fate has decreed that I shall lag behind again. I’m not saying it’s your fault, but fuck all of y’all for not waiting for me.

I wouldn’t say it’s any easier. It’s definitely less oppressive, as you can jaunt off and do something else for a bit if you get stuck. But everything can still kill you by breathing on you and there is still a good amount of bullshit deaths knocking about.

It’s the relentless dying to bosses or very hard enemies, then resetting ‘back to the start’ that destroyed my time with Souls games.
Doesn’t need to be easier, I guess, but do you get ‘reset back to the start’, or miles back, when you die? Or have I read correctly that you can get back to the action much quicker?

Most tough areas have a Stake of Markika (little statue of a lady) nearby, which you can restart from when you die. So far less of the backtracking to a fight from a bonfire bullshit.

Yeah any boss or rough part has a checkpoint you can respawn at, separate to the "bonfires". You can rinse and repeat without having to run a gauntlet

There are generally restart points ('Stakes of Marika') close to major enemies, and bonfires are everywhere.

That's massive for me, it's normally the boss runs where I decide I can't be fucked anymore. Another nail in the coffin of waiting for GT7.

Fast travel to the Sites of Grace is massive too - can leave a tough area to level up, then easily return at your convenience.
See: the fucking Well...

What’s the deal with some enemies rolling over and spitting out orange cinders when attacked? Is it some kind of stagger state for non-humanoids? I’ve seen a few different enemies do it, always the more exotic looking ones, but not been able to do anything with it.
