Just seen and accepted the PS5 friend request (I'm a bit slow on the uptake with this kind of thing, for starters I realised a week ago people couldn't even send me requests). Cheers! My younger son shares my account - for some reason he won't start his own. So any CoD etc. is him. All Elden Ring is me :-) I'm going back on at 22.00ish CET (21.00 UK), hoping to finally best Margit. I'm not sure what the etiquette is, but if anyone happens to be around and at a loose end, send me a message, happy to coop. Happy to join something too, if you want a muppet dragging you down. I don’t mind giving you a hand with Margit if you need it. Let me know if you struggle. I should still be around. Only beat Margit once though. Cheers Fonzie! So I've got a curious symbol under my HP/END bar that I can't quite decipher. It's effectively a red/maroon square, with a small downward arrow in the bottom right corner. Usually I'd expect that to be some kind of status reduction, or armour/weapon durability symbol, but doesn't seem to be any of those things ...
Anyone else had this and worked it out? Did I miss some obvious tutorial thing?

Getting into it now. Found some interesting places off the beaten track and ended up taking on some optional bosses. Got a slightly better shield and sword and upped my magic a little.

Not sure I like my samurai. Got my 'fg' password set but presume it's locked to the platform? Yeah, cross play isn't a thing. Fine with me as cheaters end up making PC play a bit of a mare |

Did I miss some obvious tutorial thing? I've got the same with an up arrow, and unequipped the Crimson Amber Medallion and the square disappeared, so must be an equipment HP up/down indicator. |

This is a bit special isn't it! The last time I have been this drawn in to a world was... BOTW and then perhaps Dark Souls before that! I think it will be a long time before I feel like I've done anything more than scratched the surface though. I needed this game to come out before I had a baby in the house.
Put a handful of hours in this evening but not sure I achieved very much. Absolutely loving it though and enjoying just meandering about the opening areas. I went Prisoner so I could experiment with some of the magic although the starting soul arrow a-like doesn't really do much for me compared to the trusty starter weapon/shield/circling technique (DS muscle memory kicked in!)
Enjoying the feel of the mini bosses dotted about (although here is where you all tell me they are regular blokes and I'm shit) - bloke with a big shield in some ruins, the fuckers on the horses with big swords, etc. Levelled up DEX a bit and found a replacement weapon. I guess I should follow the light up the hill at some point.

This is really quite excellent. Barely scratched the surface but love the setting, gives me a feeling of shadow of the colossus but with a bucket load more to do.
The dynamic weather and lighting really add to the atmosphere. I am still getting used to my prophet and felt like it was getting a bit tricky but the game encourages you to explore, try new areas.
The checkpoints are way more generous and you can just hop on the horse to grab your runes(souls) in most places.
Having a wee break to let the missus on the telly but can't wait to get back on.

Haha, is that the ruins in the starting area? Took me a few tries to clear that area out. Got my horsie now and a finger maiden (really? ) to accompany me. Put my first 4 levels into vigor and endurance so I’m slightly less squishy now Went down to the beach. Sign said merchant ahead. Lying fuckers. . I’m going back for that as I had run out of flask refills. I reckon I can take him. I can’t take the tree sentinel yet though. No siree. I’m finding backstabs are relatively easy to pull off which is nice. Think I’ll have a proper explore of this area before moving forward with the light. It’s really great so far. |

Went Confessor. Seems pretty decent to start, especially the 100% block shield and the extra healing. Still messing about in the starting area and slowly remembering how to play Souls games. Fucking brilliant.
How do you get extra spell slots BTW? Can't see anything when I go to level up. Not a problem rn as still early doors but will need extra slots eventually

That's exactly where I am at right now 😁! Cleared it out with a mix of stealthy backstabs and Russell's big magic staff. Oh and as I've set the FG group password, I can see a special glowing bloodstain where one of you on here copped it. Own up, who's got a big axe and was swinging it wildly like a loon near a wooden cart near the entrance to the guard encampment? |
