First proper boss is a bit of a (Mar)git.
Eventually beat with the help of handy wolves. Exploring the castle at the moment and it feels very Dark Soulsy in a nice way. I was expecting the dungeons to be a little more segregated from the environment, like a Zelda dungeon, but it is really nice the way they have this whole area integrated into the open world.
Not sure if I have missed a bunch of upgrade items, but feel my weapon is quite underpowered with only being at level 1. Have resorted to running away from the big knights with tornado powers. I have some stone things. I assume that the numbers in the brackets don't matter too much and that they can be mix and matched as long as it isn't exceeding the level in each of the descriptions, but even then I don't think I have the 4 I need for going to +2.

Fuck me I am really struggling with this at the moment. Been a long time since I played a souls game and I keep pressing the wrong fucking buttons lol. So I use health when not needed, dismount off my horse and all other kinds of slapstick mishaps.

Russel looks FABULOUS, no doubt. In his Astrologer robes, of course 😀 Just died for the first time, probably not the best idea to take on big horsey guy just yet. I sought sanctuary in the ruined Chapel nearby and... that didn't stop him. Be seeing you again chump, when I'm powered up a bit more that is . The opening reveal of the outside world was lovely too, it reminded me of leaving the sewers in ES:IV Oblivion. Yes, I got oblivion vibes too! |

Fuck me I am really struggling with this at the moment. Been a long time since I played a souls game and I keep pressing the wrong fucking buttons lol. So I use health when not needed, dismount off my horse and all other kinds of slapstick mishaps. Same here mate. I'm constantly summoning my steed when I have fuck all health and also jumping up and down like a fucking madman trying to activate stuff  |

Based on past experience with Soulsborne games, am I right in thinking it's smart to manually quit to the main menu before switching the console off? Guessing if you quick-resume it'll just log you out and take you there anyway?

I’ve already set a multiplayer password of FG but it sounds like that means I’ll *only* match with FG-ers, and I’m not sure there’s enough of us (especially on Xbox). Maybe we should have a FontGeek “group” instead / as well? That’s for more-likely matching rather than exclusive.

No one will ever be able to play dark souls again now that there is no jump function. Just makes going around exploring so much better.
Got about six hours in today but not all that much progress as spent time Messing around then was in a area I probably shouldn't have been on yet and then helped my son out then my bro out both beating some of the early bosses.
That boss weapon I can now wield, when you do the shout ability with it all my stats go up by maybe 3-5 for about 30 seconds. Add that with a talisman I'm wearing that increases strength, stamina and health stat by 3 means I can be nearly 50 strength in fights.

Not buying this, as Fromsoftware games bore and frustrate me in equal measures, and I have all of them apart from Sekiro for some reason even so. Still fun to see other people enjoying them though.

More uses. Just found one randomly waaaaaaayyy out in red country. I have now fled red country because it is totally insane there |

I think my issue has been coming straight from Sifu to this. I started and immediately got overwhelmed with the world and started legging it about everywhere lol. Now I've settled down a bit and going a bit slower, I'm loving just having a mooch around.

Finally beat Mergit, final blow a rather foolish leaping attack. It was donor die I think. Would have been so pissed off he had hit me.
Now to explore the castle.

I'm still just fannying about in Limgrave, as opposed to attempting Margaret, and this really does have something. I am seeing a few of the well documented performance issues on PC, but oddly, being someone who is annoyingly super-sensitive to FPS drops and frame pacing issues, it's not really bothered me too much yet (actually for 85% of the time I'm getting a solid 57-60 on Max settings). Something about the atmosphere, aesthetic, or just general landscape/topography, though. Just this first area is fucking remarkable. Can't remember if it was neems who suggested it a few weeks back, but getting serious Shadow of the Colossus vibes above all else. Fucking love it. Probably just going to get drunk and enjoy it tonight. I'll be back bitching about performance jank tomorrow, no doubt |
