Apparently you can play the PS4 version on a PS5 and get 60fps stable. Yeah but who wants to play the gimped version?

Like wunty didn't say as he's not here, can't really be surprised that it doesn't lock to 60 as performance has never been a strong area for From games. What is disappointing is how much lower performance is on Series X vs PS5. At least if they were both in their 50s, it'd be easier to deal with. Not everyone owns a VRR capable TV, so that can't just be developers' answer to rough performance on Xbox. It's not the first game with this issue either.

They've really got to sort out the tech side of these games. Not sure about Sekiro, but all the others seem to have had problems. It goes to show how good their games are that we can often still regard them as masterpieces despite them, but we really shouldn't need to be turning a blind eye to it.

Something weird is going on with this thread... I keep seeing blank spaces where a post should be.

If anyone ordered through Currys, I just got an email from DPD saying they’re delivering tomorrow. They’re bound to deliver to the wrong address aren’t they

I'd be happy for From Soft to oversee the project but for Bluepoint to actually make the game if it meant a stable ass game.

Let's get one thing straight-on ps5 on fps mode, it is fucking silky as fuck. I haven't tried resolution mode, but as it is, it's glorious. Feels very good too. Instant, smooth and no input lag.

I'm bummed I won't be playing this. I'm also bummed that the reason is that I don't have anything to play it on. Double bummed.

Getting used to X being jump is taking a few minutes though. Awesome wind effect too.

You have to remember, digital foundry is hyper sensitive to frame drops. I purposely did not buy the PS4 version knowing one offers smooth framerate while the other does not. I do think performance will get cleaned up a bit more the coming months and am more annoyed with the lack of VRR on PS5. Honestly, this is still a huge improvement over Sekiro on PS4/pro and Dark Souls 3. People should disregard PS5 patches for old games with performance comparisons.
Pc version does sound like a mess, at this stage they really should hire more people for this process... you can't sell 15 million copies and botch pc releases. It also seems their engine has some CPU bottlenecks, I don't know if they even can make a smooth transition to another version.

I was Googling to find out whether my TV supports variable refresh rate (it probably doesn’t) but then I remembered I can barely tell the difference between 30 and 60. I’ll probably be fine…
By my estimate, 5-6 hours until I can join the I’m-playing-it party. Still not sure which class I’ll be, currently erring towards quality with faith. I enjoyed playing DS Remaster with DEX and lots of rolling, but I do also like a big massive hammer that needs 50 STR to wield. Confessor maybe??

I've gotta say the performance of this on Series X and PS5 in performance doesn't sound particularly great. That it can't seem to lock to 60fps is a worry. In this I game I would need a locked 60. Certainly makes it easier to wait. They're normally pretty good with patches for performance issues right?
