Feel a bit sorry for the Horizon games. The first one came out at the same time as BotW, and now the second clashes with this. Are the From games actually that popular sales-wise? I know all the “hardcore gamerz” love them, but do they have a broad appeal too? From reported Dark Souls 3 sold 10 million copies. Not to be sneezed at. |

In fairness, they did get Horizon to me on its release date last Friday; still, I'm a trifle concerned that the status of my Elden Ring order is steadfastly refusing to change.

From nerds... why would I want to share my Steam ID on the front page? What's the coop thing in these games? I remember seeing some ghost things and weird written messages back in OG Demon's Souls... it seemed remarkably pointless at the time and basically a way of being spoiler'd. Is it different now?

Skillups review is really good and spoiler free. He has also done it so it can be listened too without needing to watch the video in case you don't want any visual spoilers from boss fights etc. Still too risky. A mechanic I wasn't aware had been added in since the network test was mentioned earlier in this thread and made me mad/10 I would say that Skill Up's review is, visually speaking, quite spoiler heavy. I've probably watched more Elden Ring content than any man alive (not proud, I think I might actually have a problem) and there was a bunch of stuff in there I had never seen before, and a fair bit I wish I hadn't. No big deal, nothing truly important I imagine, but be aware. |

You can set a password so that only people with said password (FG) will be summoned or summon you. |

Jolly cooperation. As well as messages and ghosts, you can also summon people into your world to assist you.
Personally going to avoid doing such things for my first playthrough. I did it a few times in Dark Souls 3 and it made bosses trivial.

Honestly, don't care too much about story spoilers or bosses. Besides locations, the spoilers I most want to avoid are mechanics. Discovering how things work in the world is part of the joy of these games. |

They don't progress, you also can't use the horse in co-op. And it leaves you open to invasion. Can be good fun though.

Summons disappear when a boss is defeated and you can't re-summon again until you move into the next area. That does mean there will be some bits where you will be alone. You can have a buddy for most of the time though. Edit - obviously, that is just based on previous From games. Elden Ring might be different. |

I watched the first few mins of Fighting Cowboy's review. He fucking loves it. He called it "Big Souls" and reckons that after 80 odd hours, there's still a load of stuff he knows is out there but has no idea how to get to. He also said to take any Bloodborne or Sekiro thoughts and put them out your head. This is a direct continuation of Dark Souls 3 in a lot of ways.
As DS3 is the boys favourite, he'll be over the fucking moon.

I've went from having no intention of buying this yet to thinking I'm pretty much going to have to. It's utterly insane releasing all these games at once. We still haven't even had GT7 yet. Any other time in the last 24 months I would have been buying every one of the games released over the past few weeks if they'd came out individually.
