I barely got past the first hour of Sekiro so sure it won't be too easy and I'll indulge in mage cheesing to get through the game.

I'm really struggling to decide what starting class, I like various playstyles. I'm tempted by high arcane for item discoverability (so Bandit would be a good fit, as it also has good dexterity and allows for kiting) but I'm also keen to play a hybrid melee/magic role so can alternate between the two and still have a decent range option for pulling aggro. I think I'll end up picking either Hero, Bandit, Prisoner or Confessor. I think... Same on the indecision. I'm somewhere between Astrologer or Samurai, I think. I plan to spend all of Destiny 2's downtime in the Elden Ring's character creator, and then not actually get started with the game.

I can categorically guarantee I will spend ages on the character creation. Only to then start the game, not like some aspect about the character, delete it, and then create another one. Probably taking even longer second time round.

Stresses me out. I take ages and when I start I decide I don't like their chin, or their eyes are too far apart. Into the bin they go.

I'm a little concerned that it won't be too much of a challenge for a melee build, especially after getting the Plat on Sekiro. The thread from Demons/Dark Souls to Bloodborne to Sekiro was incredible as every new entry forced you to reset your muscle memory and do things differently as a melee player. As hyped as I am for Elden Ring it looks like, as others have said, Dark Souls 4 and (hopefully mistakenly) it looks like I already know how to play it. Here's hoping I'm talking absolute bollocks and it destroys me. For reference, Miyazaki-san has gone on record as saying he feels Elden Ring has a similar difficulty to Dark Souls 3, if that helps.

I feel like that's the plight of most artists out there tbh 😅 Even when I'm just drawing something for shits and giggles, that I know no one else is going to see, the face takes more than half the time of the whole because it's always like "should the nose be a bit more to the left, the eyebrow feels a little too high, let's fix that, oh God I just erased half the eye I liked, here we go again..." It doesn't help that I'm drawing on paper rather than digital so after enough times changing something it'll start to leave a mark and look muddled...

Re: Starting classes I probably go the closest thing to Knight because I’m a boring cunt and have no imagination.
Though I do like their are set classes/character in this. I might actually be compelled to beat the game with each one over time.

Yup, just looking at the characters, I am already paralysed with which ones to choose.

General opinion from the recent preview is that the final game is harder than the Network Test, and melee is the hardest way to play it (although shields are reportedly very powerful). If you want to make life easy, magic/faith are your friends.

I highly doubt I'd have managed Margit, the Tree Sentinel and especially the dragon in the swamps without the Homing Swordmass spell and the ash summons...

You littl' show-off It's hardly showing off when you already told them I did it back when the test had just finished 😛 We never told them about the dragon though, huh...

I really don't know much about the different classes in this game. The little I have read or seen suggests a few hybrid style characters.
Anyone decided on what they are going to play?
I will happily play a random role different from other PS peeps for our EG ringpull team of mp madness.
Days are going slow in anticipation for this.

I'm going to have to choose a character that can do dex and magic. Whichever one is closest to that really. But I do like luck for drops. For the obvious reasons.

Check out the Prisoner class quaddy, it looks like that might work for you based on what you've just mentioned in your post. It has starting Dex 14, Int 14 and Mind 12. Starts with an Estoc for stabby goodness, plus staff and shield 😁.

I'm seriously tempted by the Confessor, though I don't really know enough about miracles in the game.
The Enchanted Knight was pretty great during the test. Basically, I need me some easy mode sorcery, pyromancy, ranged magic of some kind.

What about you, what are you going for?

Oh, also: Flexible_Feline is my PS5 tag. Once I've got to grips with it would love some coop. I never really have done with Souls Games, apart from lurking around bosses hoping to get summoned in DS2.

What about you, what are you going for? My current mindset is Astrologer as I fancy some magic action. I'll at least give it a go, and hope a few points into vigor or endurance will toughen them up just a bit!

The other option could be the Bandit which has the highest starting Arcane at 14 (affects discoverability, death resistance and allows access to certain sorceries/incantations) and then has Dex 13, Int 9 and Mind 11. I think these are the two classes I'm now leaning towards.

In the test I was a dude with an axe, shield and a close range pyromancy. He wrecked face pretty well, might start with that
Also, I hope the 'stealth' has been tuned. It was comical at times
