Why are most of the highly rated restaurants/take away places on google maps shit? my guess is that it's so easy to fake review scores till your shed becomes the highest rated restaurant on tripadvisor

Trust Pilot and Trip Advisor are awash with fake reviews. They are still useful but you have to wade through the bot trash.

Did anyone actually eat Smash as a child? I don't know anyone who did. It was a staple at ours, the memory of the smell and taste makes me feel a bit ill. Always with tinned veg. Horp.

I think mum went through a phase of trying it out but it was easier to just boil a few spuds, add butter and pepper and be done with it. I remember there was always an "emergency" sachet of it in the cupboard just in case we were super lazy or ran out of decent spuds but SMASH wasn't a regular thing in our house.
I remember it was bland unless you added tons of butter and pepper to it and stirred or whisked it for ages or it'd be powdery still.

I had Smash frequently.
Ate it when I was at uni regularly too, often with corned beef mashed into it.
Still do occasionally. Been a while, might have to get some.

Do different age groups have different basic Uni foods? Ours was pasta + pesto + whatever else was going cheap. Actually sometimes just butter + pepper.

Because folk do not experiment enough with their takeaway choices and have little to compare it to.
For example, I have ordered from the same Chinese for nearly 10 years.

Crisp sandwiches, crackers or something involving potatoes were my go-to meals at uni.

Blasted in the microwave. Used to gross my flatmates out. Amusingly enough one of said flatmates is now my wife so... She kind of knew what she was letting herself in for there.

Ever since we moved town a few years ago we've been trying endless Indian takeaways and disappointed in comparison to the one we had back round our old place. So now we just drive over and collect from the old place most times.

I did make an effort to learn to cook properly later on but I think I survived on whatever cheap crap I could get from Iceland for the first year. Which was āchickenā ādrumsticksā and crispy pancakes. Iām sure they painted those fuckers with orange paint as they went through the production line.
