Are you saying men and women can't just be friends? #harryandsally I am definitely not saying that. But there's definitely a difference between being friends and having an emotional affair. The difference in my experience is whether your spouse is fully aware and relaxed about it, which it seems wasn't the case here. Fiver says they'll be shagging by the end of summer term.

I feel very out the loop with that whole man or bear thing, just keep seeing it referenced without actually being aware of the source. Probably some tiktok thing?
(For what it's worth, men and women can definitely just be friends. I find people who can't be friends with people based on their gender weird).

It was an article by Kate Lister in the Independent where she was talking about how many women, when faced with the choice, would rather take their chances with a bear than with a strange man if lost in the woods.

That's fair enough and totally understandable.

Did she specify how big the bear was? Or how hungry?

That's fair enough and totally understandable. is it? This is on the assumption that they're getting the bear at its very best but a man at his worst which is the least likely probability.

Stag Do is in a year and now the WhatsApp group is up I'm starting to get nervous, especially as mates are slipping in little comments like "oh you've fucked it". I'm obviously not in the group, these are just little asides.
I don't mind some abuse/hazing but I'd rather not spend the weekend drowning in anxiety - I actually want to enjoy most of it!
Problem is resisting just makes people (or lads more specifically) double down on the embarrassing antics - I'll be better off going with the flow and taking what comes.

You should all be of an age where a word in the shell like of your best man should sort it. I am sure it's just bants bants bants lads lads lads wind ups.

As annoying as my brother is, I really did admire his stance on a stag night. I'm sure a lot of it was driven by his fiancé being absolutely terrified but he just said 'I'm having a quiet one with my family because half of you are psychotic'.

The best stag do I ever went on was about 8 of us just in a dark room playing computer games, watching films and drinking heavily for a weekend. Mostly played Gears of War 2, we had two Xboxes, an old N64. Lots of beer and rum and white russians.
Second best stag do was canoeing down the River Wye. We were told not to drink but the grooms dad met us on a river bend and we filled the canoes with beer. One of my friends rolled the canoe and nearly drowned. Fun times.
Not sure I'd enjoy a lads lads lads type night.

I admire the organisation, having it planned out a year in advance is good going! For my best man duties I sorted it out 4 months before hand but the groom did take a while in deciding who he wanted me to invite. Pretty sure all the ones I’ve been on were no more than 6 months ahead.
Fortunately at that age now where people aren’t really up for too much fucking around and just want to eat and drink with their mates.

I've been on a mixture of stag dos ranging from lads lads lads, to really boring. Ultimate lads one was in Benidorm and it was absolute carnage, I've never been so hungover in my life.

Last one I went on was years ago, but the repair bill for the hotel room was pretty expensive. I guess it was hard to get all that red off the bathtub and the bedsheets.
