So, the way my drowsy brain is reading this, which could be wrong: a character (in this case Batman) reveals something in a cutscene that you the player didn't know about, and all of a sudden that causes Mr. Writer to question whether he was playing as the character all along? Therefore Gotham Knights is pretty much the same as the Arkham games because you weren't playing as Batman anyway??? We've gone beyond Moon Logic all the way to Uranus, Mr. Donlan... Edit: Fookin' hell, what is it with me and new pages today

That's it - he's trying to sound highbrow but comes across as someone who's never played a game before.

That's what you get for reading, I think, a Donlan article, then

Rex not five minutes into Xenoblade 2: "Hey, I can use the anchor on my salvager suit to attack enemies!"
Christian Donlan: "Are you really playing as Rex in Xenoblade Chronicles 2"

No, Donlan would write a whimsical article about how he imagines Rex's transforming dragon grandpa's life.

It’s so bad I assumed it was a supporters only article that slipped through the paywall.

What they get right, and what they get wrong.

I do wonder what the analytics would be like if they put bylines on the front page. They don't really have any good writers at the moment. You just see Donlan or Nightingale or whomever and just think "no, I'm good."

Well, it's Donlan. Maybe they paid him in caterpillars or muffins.

This poster has it down:
"Let me take this basic thing and exaggerate it into nonsense" - every single Christian Donlan article

The best bit is the amount of people in the comments all snobbily saying they totally understand what he was withering on about and found it incredibly interesting.

Whole thing reminds me of the "Blue curtains" meme where the English Literature teacher's all like "In this scene, the author made the curtains blue to represent the character's immense depression and his lack of will to carry on" etc., meanwhile all the author meant is "The curtains were fucking blue"

I do like how it makes dramatic irony and its inverse seem like some rare complex literary technique when it’s used in practically every fiction ever written ever.
I’m watching Hell’s Kitchen and Gordon Ramsay knows who he’s going to kick out BUT I DON’T and maybe that means I’m not really watching Hell’s Kitchen, maybe Hell’s Kitchen is watching me.

What if, what if, you're Hell's Kitchen but you don't know that you're past self made it so that you wouldn't know you're Hell's Kitchen?

That bit where Gordon Ramsey escapes to his bat cave in every episode is dope, tho.

I’m in the US so christ only knows when it airs in the UK.

Update! Mrs Mercury has just informed me one of the kids has just found a dead mouse in his room, presumably mauled by a cat, hopefully that was the one we saw but shame he died in what must have been a traumatic death, like a scene from Jurassic Park I guess. If it happens again, Tupperware or a Welly boot are very good at getting them out. We get loads as our cats are shit. They bring them in and then get bored quickly. Absolute nightmare. Sometimes just have to wait for the cats to spot them again a day or two later.
