I’m all for dropping Lightning, wish they’d hurry up and put USB C on an AirPod case too Do they not charge wirelessly?

They do, and apparently you can charge them from the iphone over usb-c too now, might be handy in a pinch. I kind of lolled when they said the pro could connect at 10Gbit over usb-c, with an optional cable. €999 phone, how much can it really cost to put an usb 3.2 cable in the box?

I think those are much thicker and thus less flexible. Makes sense to include the cable that is more suited for the needs of the average buyer. People who need 10Gbit transfers off their phone most likely already have 10 of those cables anyway. But Apple's reason probably still is money.

Assassins Creed on an iPhone, lol... but I'm thinking that's really more about a future where the 'consumer' version of the Vision Pro is tethered to a phone. AC on a VR headset, now, that might be more interesting.

Kind of bummed that they didn't announce new iMacs, as I'm in the market for one for the first time in aaaaaaages (my current computer is well on its way to being old enough to drive).
The rumour mill suggests that M3 - or maybe M2 - iMacs are in the pipeline, but no announcement/release window is doing the rounds insofar as I can tell.

The phone isn't interesting, 3nm chips with raytracing and AI upscaling will be nice for the next batch of M3? macbooks though. Imagine that, a mac that can play current games.

I’m looking forward to getting back to a smaller phone after two years with the 13 Pro Max. There’s just loads of little irritations which aren’t outweighed by the screen and battery life for my usage.

I thought that given I was at a desk for a lot of the day that I wouldn't mind the extra bulk but actually it's quite an uncomfortable device for me, and is awful at staying in a pocket to boot.

I’ve had a pro Max for 6 years or so and I like the idea of downsizing but I think I’d struggle having smaller screen estate now.

That was basically my thinking, with less commuting due to COVID. As it turns out, when I'm at my desk I'm either working or I have other devices to distract myself with and on the commute itself I've got the Steam Deck now so that angle's covered too.

The first hands on reports say that the titanium pro feels a lot lighter than previous models, which would be a big plus point for me. I'm not ready to trade in my 13 pro yet but good that they're going in that direction.

I get to see the bezel of my pro about twice a year when I take it out of its case. Just switched sim cards yesterday and my god I always forget how slippery these phones are without a case.

Yeah it's stupid, I was really excited for the dark green 13 Pro to the point that I upgraded earlier than I normally would just to have it, and of course I never see it as it's always in a case.

They are pretty robust. I drop my 14 all the time. Not from high onto concrete but its regularly falling off a desk onto laminate floor or out of a pocket onto tiles.

I've been burned by that too many times. Though usually towards the end of the phone's useful life (ie when I want an upgrade) I start going commando. Might be time to start doing that with the 13 pro. ;p

Boo to cases.
Mine has somehow always managed to land in a manner that nullifies any protection so I go case free these days. Like Nick I hate the bulk.
A grand plus spent on a beautifully designed device only to cover it in £5 of plastic.

The only thing I hate about my case (official Apple leather one) is that they've started to have a lip at the bottom. Previous silicone cases left a notch out at the bottom so that when you're swiping from the bottom it's unobstructed. I've just taken the case off and the phone so much better without, but it's crazy slippery to hold!

I've gone un-sheathed for the last four or five years. A bunch of small drops, some nicks out of the case, some small screen damage, no drama. Much rather have less bulk in my pocket. Even out of a case though, how often does one get to see the back of the thing to even appreciate the colour anyways? What with the screen being on the front and all. I'm all about the USB-C change, but I'll be holding on to the 14Pro for at least a year more, likely two, before I'd consider an upgrade. The Watch, though... my Series 4 is ready for a refresh!

There's a story out there that Jobs absolutely wanted glass screens instead of plastic. Plastic scratches easily, but glass breaks when you drop it. The reasoning was that consumers would blame apple for the scratches, but dropping a phone would be their own fault.

Used to go bareback on mine until the camera started sticking out, now I’d rather have a case. My 12 Pro has a smashed corner when I dropped it cycling a few months ago, first one I’ve ever broken

I'm tempted to treat myself to a fancy Ultra but then that would be totally irresponsible. I have no idea which series watch I have but whichever it is, it's fine.
