I assume Co-op is a sponsor, rather than an owner? I bet they're chuffed about having their name associated with all these news stories of great success.

David Gilmour at RAH for some dates in Oct. I really should make the effort, how many more times will/can Dave tour!

Hundred Reasons + Rival Schools announced for the Royal Albert Hall next May. London’s babysitters are going to make a killing with that many mums and dads all out at once.

Saw Rival Schools playing United by Fate in full at Electric Ballroom last year, fucking excellent. Was never a fan of Hundred Reasons though, otherwise that would have been a definite purchase.
I got tickets for Fontaines D.C. last week (Plymouth in November) and coupled with Idles in July (Cardiff Castle) I've got a couple of solid gigs coming up. Still need some more though, hankering for gigs at the moment (being in the South West means decent local gigs are a rarity) and whenever I'm up in London for work there's never something on I want to see.

I was a big fan of the first HR album then drifted over the others. Last year they put out a surprise reunion album that genuinely has some of their all time best stuff on it.
Obviously the four singles from the debut are the peak but the new album isn’t far behind.
Never seen Rival Schools but have had the guitarist Ian Love stay at a previous house of mine when he toured with Jonah Matranga/onelinedrawing about twenty years ago.

I was at that Rival Schools show, it was indeed excellent. Saw Les Savy Fav there a few weeks back too, definitely one of the best live bands going. Also not a massive Hundred Reasons fan, but am tempted just to see Rival Schools at the Albert Hall.

I need to get tickets. Let's Stay Friends and Inches were on regular rotation for a long time in my youth. Thought they'd given up completely.

Bluetones again last night. Same acoustic set as last year but really nice and intimate. Much smaller crowd this time (maybe 80 or so) but Mark Morris came out after and had a chat, said he much preferred it that way. Last time there was a bit too much noise.and distraction. Missed the first song as there was no support. Whoops!

Was perusing a music forum at weekend and discovered the Black Crowes (or what’s left of them) have a new album out, which I immediately really liked, and now have found myself randomly off to see them tonight. Seats are absolutely in the gods but were sixteen quid each!

Just secured tickets for The Wonder Stuff at Shepherds Bush Empire in December. \o/ Were the seats cheap?

Despite telling myself I've bought enough gig tickets this year I ended up getting a ticket to see Orange Goblin later in the year.

Had a couple of albums of theirs in the day, one had an orangey cover and was a bit of a comeback. Proper good time metal. Absolute beer monsters, one would imagine!

My Dad went to see Dionne Warwick, not great. Loads of talking and only a handful of songs.
She is 83 I guess, walk on by.

I love Hickman's gigs. I have genuinely only ever heard of one or two - metal not my thing at all. Always very entertaining names though.

Been over a decade since I saw them last, in a tiny venue that sadly no longer exists.
The Man Who Invented Time inevitably ends up on most of my playlists, it's one of those songs that's stuck with me ever since I heard it on a Metal Hammer cover CD back when I were a wee nipper.

Saw the Crowes tonight. Pretty fantastic I have to say. Chris R has such a voice and it’s great seeing him doing his Rod/Mick peacock thing with full conviction. Only real criticism was that the touring guitarist had a really shrill tone that got into ice pick territory during some of his soloing, probably a bit of a sound engineer issue - it was also a bit loud and boomy for the size of the venue. Rich R sounded great though, he’s never flash but he’s a consummate solid player with taste.
They are brilliant at laying down a groove with actual swagger but just like the records can be a bit one note - I can always remember about 1 per dozen Black Crowes songs, but they sound great all the same.
An honest 9/10, loved it and just knew that I’d seen a better show than the masses trundling out of the Elbow concert at the new Co-op on the way back. They should at least feel privileged not to have been flattened by a falling AC unit or something I guess!

Anyone remember Mercury Rev? Tickets on sale this week. It's fair to say they look a bit different from 30 years ago ... www.mercuryrev.com/

Nice chat and banter from them too. Recomeded if you're on the fence about it!

I once saw them at a venue in Newcastle and they went down such a storm they couldn’t leave the stage and played multiple encores. Absolutely fantastic show. The Big Black is one of those albums that whenever I return to it I don’t listen to anything else for a week.

Been talked into going to Clapton tomorrow at that new arena that is falling to bits.
If I get at least one Cream tune, no racism, no anti-vax lectures and no industrial ventilators landing on my head, hopefully it will be otherwise a good night with good musicianship.

Off to Highways Festival at Royal Albert Hall tonight for The Cadillac Three and Tanner Usrey primarily.

If you’re going to head to toward the centre of Londinium and it’s 20mph limit it might as well be by horse! 🤠

Be sure to boo loudly if he goes off on one of those topics. Or if a ventilator falls on someone's head.
