Some big 90s revival hits for teenage simple to get fomo over at Download next summer I cringe every time I hear of Pantera now - that band ended in 2004. They were my favourite band when I was 15 so I can’t say I wouldn’t be tempted if they did headline shows. I love Anthrax so Benante is alright by me and Wylde will tell anyone who listens that this is a tribute show to the Abbott Bros. But there are all the asterisks that Phil brings with him.

My friend was telling me about download the other day, loads of bands I'd like to see, but I can't do festivals anymore.
I might manage it on a day pass and stay in a premier Inn nearby or something 😅

Babymetal look like they’d put on an incredible show. If you can avoid being arrested for attending at our age.
Same on festivals. I don’t think I’ve done a full camped weekend in 15+ years.

Seriously eyeing up Hit Milk gig in London next Weds. Just trying to talk the missus into joining me as it’s a bit of a hike getting in and out of London and would prefer some company.
One of my favourite new bands & album this year. If you’re a fan of Indie Pop Punk give them a listen!

Saw QUOTSA last night and they were INCREDIBLE.
The tightest band I’ve ever seen but still plenty of guitar improv and stuff. The weight and power of them is something else. It doesn’t have that nasty attack of many metal bands I’ve seen but they are actually heavier than a lot of that stuff live in terms of weight. Vocally Homme is so consistent live and they can actually pull off all the harmonies and stuff. Considering I’ve seen some howlers at the AO Arena the sound was the best I think I’ve ever heard live.
Would have liked to have seen Mexicola, a couple more off Rated R (still can’t believe they didn’t do Lost Art) and definitely more from Lullabies to Paralyse. They played at least half of the new album though and I guess that shows that they are not fully reliant on being a nostalgia act just yet.
Two lads in front definitely peaked too early, they slept through the last third!

Man I've been banging that drum for so long, nice to find someone else of the same opinion! There is like a natural, organic heaviness to QOTSA. For me it's filtered down somewhat from Kyuss, but actually I think maybe more from Josh's strong and long-lived links to "grunge" or the Seattle sound. So many bands from that movement back then, for me, had that organic heaviness in the sound which I always felt had more "weight" than any heavy / death / thrash metal.

Do they still finish with Song for the Dead? One of the best set-closers I've ever witnessed live.

I was there last night at the MEN Arena, small thanks to pierrepressure who managed to sort me out with pre-sale ticket links. QOTSA were just another level last night. So tight, the set was just packed with tunes, hardly any chat or interludes. Really impressive to watch, and deffo worth the ticket price.

Was my Mrs’ first ‘rock rock’ gig too - we’ve been to loads but she’s more indie bopper. She loved it - was a bit apprehensive about what the crowd would be like too. I told her we’d be right in the average range and dress sense and I was bang on lol. You weren’t the two slumped over unconcious in front were you 😂

Sounds like you all had an absolute blast.
Me and the other half were contemplating going but we've got Brum (Seating boo) on Sunday and then the next day we have the final UK show in Stockton(!) which sounds like it could be a belter as its only about 3k capacity.
Last show I saw them in a small venue anywhere near that size was the 100 club back in 2007.

The people in front of me stayed seated until the encore, which made for a lovely time. Really glad I had my in ear plugs though, it was fuckin' loud! Only downside was that I was done for a PCN for parking as it was a Pay on ENTRY car park, but had no signage to tell you that. I've contested it with my best Customer Service hat on.

The Enemy at Bexhill Pavillion last night. Absolute indie riot (well if the riot was undertaken by white bald men too old for terrace fights but willing to throw their expensive pints a few foot up in the air and back over themselves). The set though bangin’ ! Loved it! 8/10
Tonight back on home turf in Guildford Boileroom watching Paramore GB covers band. YouTube them if you are a Paramore fan as they are surprisingly decent and you might be able to catch them on their travels as they recently added another 3 dates inc. Pompey I believe (don’t normally do cover bands). £70 cheaper than a plebs Paramore ticket yes please 😎🤘 just back… 2hrs 15mins set! Terrific! 9/10 (for a covers band!)

Is never heard of them before this weekend but they were pretty decent. Your description above pretty accurately describes the crowds here! Highlights for me over the weekend have been Jesus Jones, Black Grape, Wonder Stuff, Inspiral Carpets, Altogether Now by The Farm as a tribute to Mani and finishing me off was a banging set by the Stereo MCs. It was way better than I expected. I'm bloody tired!

The support act can only be described as a Witch themed Indie Goth Rock band. It's gonna be interesting! \o/

Me and my mate watched them last year in a small venue for them, the Mountford Hall in Liverpool. It's essentially a school gym of a venue, so it was loud and sweaty. Friday was more of their usual level of attendance. The laser show was magnificent, we were down by the left hand side, room to groove in and other like minded but also age wise people

Saw them in Brixton Academy yonks ago and even that felt like a fairly small venue for them (compared to Millstreet or Glastonbury for my other times seeing them) It's bloody great seeing them in smaller, sweatier venues.

Looking forward to The Hara in a tiny venue in Milton Keynes this week. Been listening to their new album Survival Mode recently and love it!
We have been on a bit of a new bands trip with our gigging recently, and the cheap ticket prices combined with how much a breakout band often love and appreciate what they are doing make for some great nights out.

Wow Hot Milk last night @ O2 Forum Kentish Town was fierce! We (wisely as mid 40's semi-creaking knees owners) took the decision to not risk it and stood behind the soundesk... right decision! For half the set they had the entire front and middle standing crowd bouncing along, big mosh pit breakouts and a few times a Huge mosh circle that was close to the entire width of the venue with a running circle then a huge mosh out. I'm not a heavy punk/indie rock fan normally (Hot Milk are however a bit of a crossover) but I was taken aback how much the crowd went for it.
Hot Milk for their part sounded Much better than I expected! They were clearly playing live to an instrumental partial backing track at times but fair enough given that many of their songs are effects heavy on the vocals and quite a lot of electronic effects too, and most of the time they sounded close to as good as recorded. The band were clearly loving the reception, lapping up the crowd energy and the whole set was hugely energetic and bar a few flat sung notes here and there (not a big deal given its indie punk) pretty well delivered.
8.5/10 - I would definitely see them again! I can imagine them lighting up festival crowds next year (and I believe the are support for Foos so anyone with tickets for them enjoy Hot Milk too... you will!) \o/
One thing though... £35 for a t-shirt?!? Taking the p*ss sorry... no chance!

Wow Hot Milk last night @ O2 Forum Kentish Town was fierce Good stuff man. It seems to be a recurring thing with the newer generation of pop punk bands to have backing tracks a lot of the time. I’m not a fan really, I prefer the old school way and if songs are different live then that’s pretty cool anyway. Last couple gigs I’ve been to at the Forum we also stood behind the mixing desk, safe haven for sure! A Day to Remember was similarly hectic on the floor. Saw Waterparks and Stand Atlantic in Norwich on Tuesday. Similarly both using backing tracks but both put on a good show. Have seen SA a few times now and they’re growing each time, Bonnie has turned from reluctant front woman to enjoying the role. Waterparks were better than expected but the set list wasn’t great IMO.
