Saw Waterparks and Stand Atlantic in Norwich on Tuesday. Similarly both using backing tracks but both put on a good show. Have seen SA a few times now and they’re growing each time, Bonnie has turned from reluctant front woman to enjoying the role. Waterparks were better than expected but the set list wasn’t great IMO. I’m a big SA fan too any was very close to seeing them with Waterparks at Roundhouse but it was Halloween night and I would had to have hiked in and out of London solo (about 1.5hrs each way for me by train) as missus was not interested. If SA was headliner I would have but Waterparks as headliner I could not quite get fired up about. I still think SA will continue to grow too as they get more international touring experience and learn how to max out their sound live. Definitely one of my favourite new(ish!) bands from the last couple of years. Biffy Clyro name checked them a couple of years ago (how I found them) and I’m living in hope of Biffy touring late next year with a new album and SA in support. I would be all over that tour like a rash!

Funnily enough I’ve seen SA at the Waterfront 3 times in support of other bands now (Waterparks, The Maine, State Champs) but did also see them on their first headline at the Underworld quite a while ago. FEAR was probably my fav album of last year.

Saw Greta Van Fleet at Wembley Arena a couple of weeks ago. Brilliant live and the lead singer as a great voice .
The jamming in between songs went on far too long at times though and I couldn’t help thinking they could have fit at least another 5 songs into the set

Saw QOTSA in Brum and was slightly disappointed, not sure if it was due to me being in the seating area or if the fact that that it was an arena show had any bearing on that. I also thought Josh seemed a little subdued, he did sound a little sick which made me worried they might cancel Monday's show in Stockton-on-Tees which we also went to. Thank goodness they didn't as that was one of the greatest shows I've been to, the band were on form, they dug much deeper into the back catalogue which was massively appreciated to someone who has seen them over 20 times now and it was all topped off by being in a tiny venue with a really cool crowd. My other half went into full on fangirl mode, she missed a load of gigs over the years to stay at home with the kids so she was determined to get on the barrier, she managed to get a couple of decent pictures of the Stockton show.

Far From Saints (Guildford)
Nice of them to come to Guildford as not a lot of bigger current bands do (/tips hat).
Loved it! I’ve been a Stereophonics fan since my late teens and Kelly Jones has one of the greatest voices in Indie Rock imo so when they releases the FFS album this year I immediately connected with it (especially as recent years I’ve really grown into Americana and Country Rock music).
Last night they were on great form. The level of class of the musicians within the group is undeniable and they produce a wonderful detailed, complex and heartfelt sound across the album tracks and chosen covers.
Like sipping on a vintage Jack Daniel’s… 9/10
(Support was from Leah Weller, daughter of Paul. Very melodic and summery breeze feel delivery with whimsical lyrics. Pretty good but too low tempo for my own tastes mostly. 6/10… could see that it would be a few points higher for some… she does have a beautiful voice.)

Babymetal last night in Wolverhampton.
Really fun and energetic despite being at the end of nearly a year long world tour. Routine is tight and the band is awesome.
Quite a small venue compared to their usual big stage shows. I was about 6 rows of people from the stage and had a decent view. Stage crew kept handing out cups of water which got passed back into the crowd, probably a reaction to the recent concert death or people passing out, but really nice to see the crowd being looked after.
Crowd was also well behaved, even the swirling pit of death. Quite an age range from lots of teenage girls to grizzly old metalheads.
Didn't think much of the support, but they were ok enough to get people ready for the main event.
Really glad I finally saw them, especially after everyone thought they were stopping after their 10 year anniversary.

Victoriuos Festival 2024 Sunday lineup you make me weep! (main lineups for each day just released) www.victoriousfestival.co.uk/Biffy Clyro headlining on Sunday? Amazing! The rest of that day's lineup... complete pony! Pigeon Detectives aside (and I can just about get along with Wet Leg)... what a load of sh*te the rest of the acts are! AAARRRRRGH! (to my taste... each to their own and all that!)
Then again I would pay the asking price to just see Biffy although preferably not at a festival...
/ponders if it worth it or not for the Sunday only (2nd Tier Early Bird ticket discounts ends today I believe if you want in...)

Off to see Therapy? tonight. Pondering if I should wear the leather jacker or patch-covered vest. might go for the latter, not exactly metal but shouldn't be too off the vibe.

What I like about this gig is that most people are my age. Middle aged. When I go to see yunguns playing there's a greater chance there'll be some cocks hardcore dancing and what not. I think here it'll be gentle shoving at most because everyone is starting to be concerned about hips.

Also, no tour t-shirts at the merch stand. Unless the t-shirt has a pointless list of the tour dates on the back idgaf.
Equally, it can be a shit t-shirt but if it had a few dates I'll throw money away.

My dexys tshirt just has the name. I was very sad there were no tour dates. Plus, i went to Holland to see the mofos.
I want my tour dates dammit.
Should have seen arab strap this week, but it's been cancelled. Guess a dose of covid got Aiden. Thankfully rescheduled already for January.

They are playing Manchester Academy 2 tonight. I am tempted to go but I am skint and absolutely knackered. Looking at the setlist, it looks pretty decent? www.setlist.fm/setlist/therapy/2023/fleece-bristol-england-53aecb71.html

motti82Therapy? were great, lots of energy and just play very well. Lot of songs off their new album but it's a great album so so really don't mind. The support act are great too, Bokassa. Didn't really know them but they do a good line of pop-punk meets stoner-metal, actually fit Therapy? very well.

And off to see Brutus this evening. Should be good. Looking forward to the support too, Karin Park.
Part of me just wants to stay in and curl up in bed, but the part of me that wants to go outweighs it. I have sacked a couple of gigs off at last minute though - and when I have done I've not always regretted it.

Came across some footage of me moshing at the Therapy? gig. I did not look cool at all. Provide, and we shall put it to a vote. Upon reviewing it's actually extremely fleeting, but here, 1:57ish, long haired fella in the vest jacket and white t-shirt. Calling it moshing is a stretch, more drunkenly falling into other people. Maybe I'm being far too overly self-conscious (being overly self-conscious is very much my personal brand).
