Qotsa next month, going to see them in Halifax and Cardiff.
I can't bloody wait, as far as big rock bands go I still think they're best in class, the first single from their upcoming album is great and the teasers they've released of other songs sound really interesting.

Is it bad gig etiquette to leave before the headline act, if you was mostly there to see the support?

Years ago I got tickets to see the Boredoms at the Elizabeth Hall in London, only for it to morph into a John Cale gig supported by the Boredoms for some never explained reason. Sure enough, John Cale comes on and a couple of minutes in most of the audience wander off to the bar, me included. I went back in after half an hour or so our of curiosity and the place was really empty and depressed looking.

Saying that, as a kid I used to watch the then local pub band, Inspiral Carpets all the time. They got a gig in Oldham at one of their usual haunts where Spaceman 3 would be headlining, but they were unknown to us kids and they came on so late that we were all worrying about missing the last bus home so most of us lefter after the Inspirals. I really regret that now

I have to admit I left the gig I went to last night after seeing The Chisel, before The Chats came on.
I like The Chats, but I'm not massively familiar with their work.
However I like The Chisel a lot, and ended up in the mosh pit. As I'm 40 this left me knackered, and I know if I stayed for The Chats I'd just be stood around waiting for them to play Smoko.
It's not like there would be an crowd exodus before they came on.

Is it bad gig etiquette to leave before the headline act, if you was mostly there to see the support? I’ve done it before at Academy size venues but I think if it was a smaller show (like club/bar/local) it would be bad form because I’d feel bad if they were playing to a half empty room. If I’d paid arena prices I’d feel like I need to justify the outlay by watching everyone. I can remember when my old flatmate would book shows around Newcastle some touring bands would ask to go on before the biggest of the local supports so that half the audience didn’t leave after their mates played. That said you only have so many hours of life so don’t waste them on watching someone you really don’t fancy.

A$AP Rocky supported the Chilis last year when I saw them. He was late and therefore rescheduled to go on after the Chilis.
Cue mass exodus when they finished as A$AP performed to a dwindling audience.

I saw Spaceman 3 and Jason and Pete had a massive row onstage.
The carried on playing, but it wasn't much of a show.

I would be 16 then.

That must've been around Cow time, then? My memories are a bit fuzzy around then, but it's a couple of years before Life or the Trainsurfing EP. I'm a little bit younger than that.

Going to see BC camplight in a tiny venue soon. Looking forward to that a lot, I've really been enjoying the new album. It's quite funny too, given it's a break-up album!

Too many bands these days don't seen to have tour t-shirts. If they want me to buy merch they can stick some dates on the back and the chance I'll buy increases exponentially.

Anyway, just saw Carcass. They are fucking amazing live. Death metal but do a lot to make it very interesting. Good between song banter too. They have the confidence only attained when you've been doing this for 30 odd years.
Support was from Unto Others, goth metal. Enjoyable, and the guitarist was having a lot of fun, but got a bit samey.
First band was Conjurer who did some decent death/ doom but we're just a bit too serious and po faced and appeared to have no fun

My mate Nip who I've known from school has been their live guitarist for this whole tour. Met him for beers before the gig and he had awesome tour stories about hanging out with Dave Vincent and going round to Phil Anselmos for a BBQ. He gets to play Donnington with them too. Best bit is that when we were teenage metalheads Carcass were one of his favourite bands and on tour he's got to share a stage with all his DM musical heroes.

I am not feeling too bad about missing Download. It sounds like a bit of mess planning wise where over 100k are turning up on the same day because of the extra day this year.

Queens of the Stone Age doing a north eastern date for basically the first time ever and its a mid-sized provincial theatre in Stockon that caters exclusively to Radio 4 comedians and tribute acts. Weird choice.

I got tickets to the stockton gig, should be good especially due to the size of the place, haven't seen them in that small a venue since KOKO in Camden '05.
Just read the other day that Josh Homme was diagnosed with cancer, it's been removed and he is recovering but I don't think they'll be touring again for a while after this.

I'm seeing them next week in Margate - again, an odd choice but perhaps that's the reason behind the smaller gigs. I'd assumed they were warm up gigs for a festival showing perhaps?

Only able to get tickets for QOSTA pre-sale by purchasing their new album. I'll take my chances 9am Friday with the General sale...

Just got PJ Harvey tickets \o/ Enjoy. Saw her in Amsterdam on the hope demolition project tour when visiting a mate. Great gig, only issue was the dutch all being about 7ft tall meant i mostly saw the backs of heads & less of pj & band!

Many years ago I was at a Billy Childish gig in a small pub in London and she was stood directly next to me, but I am not very good at recognising people.
Drunk me, not exactly sure if it was her or not was failing at subtly glancing to see better, notices a guy in front has a PJ tour shirt on with her picture on the back so I start glancing back and forth between the t-shirt and her, and due to being plastered, was getting myself more and more unsure and making myself look more and more moronic.
Still, she seemed to find it amusing.
