Now Orbital tonight.
I don't really know to act at techno gigs. But I fucking love their music so I might just shuffle around and "dance".
Just spotted somebody in the crowd whose teeth are so unnaturally white they glow like Ross's in that episode of Friends, so it's a good start.

Someone tell me if I should go see Pile on Sunday. I can't be arsed to make the decision for myself. I would LOVE to see them live - did you go in the end?

I was too slint to afford travel and accommodation. I wasn't nearly as organised as I was for the last Leeds gig I went to. This is now the second time I've had tickets for them and not managed to go!

King810 + Alpha Wolf last night, in the scuzziest venue I've seen in a long time (The Loft in Southampton). Nothing quite like a cramped & sweaty metal gig! King810 in particular were excellent, and it was nice to see a proper old fashioned mosh pit in action. A good night out and well worth the slightly muzzy head this morning.

Not music but I just got tickets to this autumnās Garth Marenghi tour. The Newcastle date is on Halloween which is a suitably spooky night to see him.
And the Uncanny ghost investigation podcast live tour later the same week.

I thought it was weird that bands like Queens of the Stone Age and boygenius were playing Halifax as part of incredibly short uk tours, then I googled the venue and it looks like those Andre Reiu concerts that play unendingly on Sky Arts

Bought a ticket for Carcass. Bit pricier than I'd like but should be a good show.

Has no one visited here? It'll probably piss it down.

We did similar here and discovered The Bluetones were playing a small venue in April.Ā Should be a fun retro night. Is that an acoustic show? They are doing a gig near me in April, but it is acoustic only. Sleeper are playing the same venue a few weeks after, need to get tickets for that sorted soon. Bluetones were excellent btw. Cracking small, intimate venue. Happy to meet and chat after etc. Definitely recommended...quite a few decent artists popping up there too. Space being the latest.

Gutted none of them are anywhere near me Thought they'd at least do a London gig, would've made the trip up!

I do notice the second date is in Glasgow though so I'm going to see if I can work it.
As an aside, I'm 1/2 way into Terrortome and it's not as good as I'd hoped. Still funny though but just feels a bit... I dunno. Disappointing.

Bought tickets for Carcass in June and Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs in September. Nice. Going to ArcTanGent again this year and Pigs are on the bill for that. Line up is stacked. Made even better with Bellwitch being added this afternoon too. Otherwise got tickets to see the Mars Volta and Incubus (playing it Cornwall \o/) this summer too. Should be a good un.

Quite tempted by ArcTanGent but I've mostly been going to gigs by myself as I have few friends into that shit, and going to a festival by myself is one step too far outside my comfort zone.

Quite tempted by ArcTanGent but I've mostly been going to gigs by myself as I have few friends into that shit, and going to a festival by myself is one step too far outside my comfort zone. I think it is my favourite festival. It's pretty small all things considered (about 5K? - Download for context is 80K - numbers pulled without from google without really looking). It is probably the one festival where you could quite comfortably do it by yourself, and , In my opinion at least, ideal for spending a few days away, just watching some bands, going back to your tent, and doing it all again the next day. Theres a few fields for camping, and the music area has 3 mediums tents and 2 smaller ones, all pretty close together for 5 stages. - honestly it isn't much bigger than 1 or 2 school fields. It's pretty relaxed, and you know given the bands, everyone there is for the music. The vibe is really nice. Doesn't stop some toilets looking horrendous mind you, but that's festivals. There are probably about 12-15 food stalls too, so if you are comfortable in a tent, you don't really have to go out your way to keep yourself alive.

My gig diary for the year is now probably the most full its been in at least five years, probably longer.
Green Lung, a two day indie/punk festival, Tim Key, Garth Marenghi, Uncanny, plus the offer of a spare ticket to local festival headlined by Levellers, Jethro Tull and Hawkwind.
Slightly gutted that Pictish Trail just announced a show at one of my favourite venues on a night that Iām already double booked for. His last album is one of my favourites and most played of the last few years.

Spent the afternoon at a micro festival that is being headlined by the Levellers tonight and Hawkwind tomorrow. The audience really looked it too.
Fun show though, got to watch Groundhogs, the Tom Robinson Band and Bill Bailey.
Lot of dreadlocks, lot of cider drinkers, lot of weed, lot of dogs.

Groundhogs as in Tony McPhee's old band? Love a lot of their original 60s / 70s stuff!

Yeah, that Groundhogs but Tony had a stroke or something a little bit back so its a different guy fronting now. They still ripped though. Got about half of the Split album which was a treat.

Not at the same gig, though that would be a sick line up.

Ended up with quite a few gigs lined up over the next few months. Mostly metal. Should probably stop buying tickets as it's hard to justify the cost.
Coming up I have:
The Chats (+ The Chisel) Bolzer (+ Abduction) Carcass (+ Unto Others + Conjurer) Levellers (+ Selecter + Goldie Looking Chain + others) Midnight (+ Devestator) Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Employed to Serve (+ Pupil Slicer... actually more interested in Pupil Slicer) Brutus Therapy?

Saw Martha last night on the opening night of a diy punk/indie festival happening in Newcastle this weekend. It was very full, hot and good.
Today is bands like Waves Pictures, Withered Hand, Pit Pony. If I can get into the venues anyway, there are five or six and the whole thing is basically sold out.
Edit: Pit Pony were excellent and have everything it should take to get massive

Kiss must be getting pretty desperate for ticket sales.
First night of the tour cancelled for ālogisticalā reasons, Instagram spamming 20% off deals, some venues doing 2for1.
Itāll be a fun show but this farewell tour did start before Covid and tickets were about Ā£90.
