Just got PJ Harvey tickets \o/ Enjoy. Saw her in Amsterdam on the hope demolition project tour when visiting a mate. Great gig, only issue was the dutch all being about 7ft tall meant i mostly saw the backs of heads & less of pj & band! I last saw her at a gig in Manchester, possibly the shittest venue I had ever been to. Two open entrances into the main area, completely blocked by people there. Meant I heard it, and looked at a brick wall.

Saw the Mars Volta last night. They were incredible. So so so good. Set was much deloused with the first half of Frances the mute with a couple of new ones thrown in. Their new drummer! Oof!
I also forgot that drinking alcohol has sore head consequences. Ouch

QOTSA last night at Margate Dreamland. A surprisingly good little venue.
The band were bloody brilliant - all on point and with a great mix of tunes.
Only let down was the venue cut the power dead on 11, despite Josh pleading that he'd pay the £10,000 fine to play on. To that end the band kept playing sans power! Bit of a weird end to the gig but one that I'll remember for a long time!
Couldn't help but think if they'd bloody turned up on time rather than rock on half hour late that they'd have got the amount of songs in that they wanted.
God I'm old.

Artists who fanny about and decide to just turn up later can fucking do one. I mean if there's delays out of their control it can't be helped, but if it's just some ego-stroking wanker wanting to make the crowd wait I'll lose goodwill towards them. I'm not above leaving gigs early.

I've no idea if they were just keeping us waiting for the sake of it. The technicians were still bringing guitars out 15 mins after they were due on. Bit odd.

Taking my wife to see Iron Maiden in Dublin tomorrow (going over tonight) - Can't imagine them being around too much longer, so needed to get one more fix in and she's never seen them (or wanted to! haha).
Atomic Bitchwax in October, Camden - riff masters!

I've seen QOTSA twice this week, feeling a little worse for wear now but they've been absolutely incrdible.
Looking forward to seeing them on Glasto tomorrow.

Incubus tonight at Eden Project, should be good! I was meant to go to this. Only live 45 minutes away, but I had a super busy week at work and been called In to work today (6.45 start), so binned it. Bit gutted. I can’t do being tired these days 😂. Eden can be a pain in the arse to get out of too.

As long as you leave as soon as the encore is finished (and don't arrive too late and aren't parked in the furthest spaces) you can usually manage to get out with little fuss and miss traffic.

It's been an expensive month of gig tickets purchased:- 1 x QOSTA at MEN Area (kudos to pierrepressure) 2 x Prodigy at the MEN Arena (both gigs in the same week!) 1 x Bring Me The Horizon at Liverpool Arena (Jan 2024).

They did a good job turning dreamland into a nice outdoor space. Agree about the annoyance with the sound being cut off. And talking of being old, when Homme said he wasn’t going to do the encore bullshit I have probably my loudest cheer of the night.

Richard Thompson tonight at Brighton Dome and then Melvins on Thurs at Chalk (Brighton again). Both absolute legends of rock for me, but two very different sub-genres!!

Muse @ MK last night were fantastic! (Great stage design too!) Such a great set of most of Will of the People and a lot of the big rocky hits from across their catalogue. Very light on the more orchestrated songs and doubled down on the rockiest numbers which suited us fine! Can’t imagine a much better set… 9.5/10
Royal Blood were solid in support a little shackled by a short set length but they seemed in good form
The Warning opened up. A young all female rock group from Mexico consisting of 3 sisters (rose to some fame after covering Enter The Sandman on the Metallica Black covers album and very much their own take which rocks out well). All 3 girls are talented but the drummer stood out to us as a real talent. Can see them going far as their latest album Error is a belter and with 3 albums under their belt now and a number of years performing they are already the real deal. Let’s hope they can get more of a Euro schedule in the future and they find more traction…
The Warning - Error (if you are interested to have a listen!!!) (I also highly recommend Stand Atlantic - another terrific group with a kick ass female lead)

After the high from the Queens gigs last week I'm now on a bit of a downer as I'm back to work.
Got nothing to look forward to gig wise until Feeder in August.

I am hoping for an Isle of Wight Festival appearance again for the Foos. Have bought early bird tickets as a gamble.
Edit: there's a gap on 21st and 23rd June..right on Festival weekend...

What a fine gig month June turned out to be for me and my wife. On the 7th, we watched Nightwish, supported by In Flames and Insomnium. On the 17th, we watched Helloween (Pumpkins United), supported by Jinjer and Beyond the Black. Finally, on the 25th I watched Ghost, supported by Rotting Christ and Candlemass, while Guns ' n' Roses are coming up in July, hurrah!!!
So far, all headliners have been stellar, especially Helloween with all three singers and three guitars on stage!

I only got Willy Mason in June as he playing locally in Falmouth when few people do (plus he is great), and got Arctangent festival in August. Can’t wait. Line up is mint. Never heard of Heilung until a few months ago and now it’s the most excited I’ve been for a gig since I was 17 I think haha.
