I figure quite a few of us on here are probably almost boderline creative, so it might be nice to have a space to show off portfolios or interesting stuff we've created. Artwork, writing, photography, videos, whatever. Maybe even if you just cooked a nice meal. I was going to add "no nudes" to the title but, bugger it, just drop a link with a NSFW tag if that's your bag. I'm sure it would be Tasteful and Arty. I ain't gonna judge. Anyway, I'll go first. I am, I suppose, a writer - especially as I kinda get paid for writing TV, so I guess that's my job now. I've written other stuff - a couple of articles online - but one thing I try to do is every week make a "Top Ten" list on my blog. I've been doing this now for nearly a decade (!) and the most recent one was about PC games of the 90s/00s that no one seems to talk about anymore: Top Ten Forgotten PC GamesSo what other fantastic stuff have people been creating?

I've worked as an animator and illustrator in the past. Was okay at the art side of things but was crap at making it a career.
Anyway, did a few bits and pieces for fun.
I really should try and get back into drawing.

Funnily enough I did animation at uni too, but none of my films were as professional as that second one (good stuff!). Writing for a living sounds really cool too. When I was younger I loved the idea of writing a sitcom. I still paint and draw though. I love photography as well. I take the occasional artwork commission and do the odd paid photography job, but I'm REALLY bad at marketing myself/too tired after working full time in a really non creative job. I used to draw pretty well but that’s down the drain now. In fact, it’s the last of two of my life’s ambitions before I die (re-learn to draw and get serviceably good at Japanese).
The only thing remotely creative I’m doing now is a YT channel about tech since about a month ago. It’s proper hard work, but very satisfying.

I used to be a reasonably prolific and decent writer, nothing published or anything (unless you count self-publishing or local zines/papers), but haven't written a single creative word in well over a couple of years due to general lack of motivation and enthusiasm. I keep telling myself I'll get back to it someday.

I liked your collection of short stories. The End, was it?

Yeah. I think it's still around on Amazon somewhere but last time I looked the formatting was completely boned and I couldn't be bothered to fix it.

Yeah. I think it's still around on Amazon somewhere but last time I looked the formatting was completely boned and I couldn't be bothered to fix it. Apparently Amazon kills anything it touches, so… yeah. I hated getting books from them when I still did. Horrible ocr-error-riddled messes the lot of them.

Good idea for a thread. Do a fair bit of photography. In a bit of a rut with it at the moment, but I enjoy getting out with the camera. Had a bit of a rest over the last couple of months due to summer being insanely busy down 'ere but hopefully will get out tomorrow. I started drawing again recently as well, but thats kinda been on the back burner a little bit. Just a natural procrastinator and I don't really have anywhere private to create. www.instagram.com/joel.stinton/

Some software mash ups, all sorts of different stuff in there. Not a lot of talent gone into it mind you but they look great none the less.

My Top Ten blog from the weekend. Thought this one was okay, sometimes I feel like I'm just throwing this stuff out there but I was quite pleased with this week all things considered. Top Ten Movie Cameos

@ultrapyper777 I don't have a Spectrum emulator but just seeing those screenshots fills me with a sense of nostalgia. Could almost imagine being round my older cousin's house flicking through his copy of Your Sinclair and seeing your games!

I have been trying to learn Blender and absolutely nothing turns out like the tutorials.

I always wish I could be my creative. The problem I find is that when you get older you become better at telling what is shit, including from your own work. As a kid you could get away with drawing like arse or writing pathetic stories, but it is much more disheartening going through the inevitable sewage of your first efforts when you know what you are creating is excruciating. I dabbled a bit in learning the keyboard, took some Udemy courses on game development in Unity, tried to understand Blender, started writing a fiction book and done a bit of blogging. The latter is the only one that has particularly stuck as something I've done over an extended period of time (I would love to have time to just learn game development properly, but it requires a lot of time and ideas for small simple games is harder than something a bit more involved). So, I guess I can post a link to my blog. I haven't written there in a little while, but I return ever so often. It is mostly about gaming, with Disco Elysium review seemingly the most popular (if you search Disco Elysium Superstar Cop in Google it is actually the 3rd or 4th result). Would be great to have time to dedicate to it and actually make money from it, but games journalism seems pretty much dead unless you are just doing mind numbing news posts. beyondthescreen.org/

Technically my job is constantly creative, writing about and coming up with ideas for other people to write about cars and stuff. But I've been writing for a living for 12 years or so now, so in the past year I've started dabbling in the dingy world of YouTube car and motorbike reviews. My day job requires that I write about them, but I actually spend most of my time filming them for my own channels – I love doing the (dodgy) camerawork and editing, and I'm getting there with my own style of laid-back presenting. It's been interesting to see how much quicker it is to grow subscribers on the car channel, but individual bike videos tend to do better. Car one: www.youtube.com/c/TimRodieDrivesStuffBike one: www.youtube.com/c/TimRodieThe next video, when I've pulled my finger out to edit it, will be about driving this silly thing: https://www.instagram.com/p/CVAdOJ1j6BJ

Blimey, this place has some talent! Animation is something I always wanted to learn (and love what's been posted in here) but never did, so I stuck to colouring-in and thankfully it's (kinda) worked out for me. I can't work out how to put an image in here so here's my Instagram stuffs. www.instagram.com/purdyillos/

I sold this for around about 18 usd. I deliberately undervalued(or over, who knows it sold anyway) it but out of all the sales I have had I value this one more because I actually took and processed all the images myself. Had about 50 dollars worth of sales in some low effort AI art but you know that is more the work of the code and not me, still nothing to sniff at.

I recorded some spooky ghost music to fit the season.
I've been meaning to do some casual recordings at home for a while and finally got off my butt and did one last night. I had serious problems getting everything to work properly. Got horrid random digital distortion and I don't know if it's the mic, PC or some bit of software that's the culprit. My camera also apparently eats its battery in about 10 minutes in video mode, so even with a spare that was annoying. Guess I'll try recording to the laptop and using the phone camera next time. In the end I had to settle for the best take I had, with a less than perfect performance but a minimum of sound issues (still some). Then I realised after I'd thrown it up on YouTube that I hadn't properly checked the video file and it had rendered an extra 30s of black at the end. Too lazy to fix, let's call it a learning experience.
