There are indeed. But Balder knights don't rain lightning in your face, but good luck with your endeavours

I'd just grind in Sen's, since that's where you're going anyway

quadfather I just read the tips in your signature - very good stuff! Found a thing I did not know: "When using the bow, use up and down on the D-pad to zoom in and out" . Whaaaat?

It's a tricky environment to get favourable backstabs all the time though

I think I might have fucked things: I started attacking the man who sits near the fire at Firelink. Now he kills me very easily and as soon as I respawn he's on me again

Just run away and get a fat shield, then lure him to an edge and finally kick him over it. He's unimportant.

Yeah just sack him off as you see fit.

Hah. I’ll see if I can boot him off the edge. It’s been pretty humbling. He was very patient with me when I had a few free shots.

askew I think you can ask for absolution from the creepy guy at the bell gargoyle tower, Oswald of Carim, and he will stop attacking you... On the other hand, you will face him eventually...

If this is a dig at me attacking and killing every NPC then I think you'll find, as demonstrated above, they all fucking have it coming to them.

It's a tricky environment to get favourable backstabs all the time though For sure - I had quite a few rounds against the first two, often both would want to join in while I was suggesting a fair mano-y-sneko fight. Eventually I think I figured out how to just run past them, but I might be conflating "me" with some video I watched.

You can also get one to run over the trap

I farmed the snake guards this morning to get the souls I needed- they weren't too bad, took a few swings but definitely doable even without backstab. I'm lv47 already, probably ready for a proper run at Sen's Fortress, but I've headed back to the Forest Hunters first

Sens is mostly an obstacle course and not so much about what level you’re at. 47 should be sufficient - dmgwise I think the level of your weapon is still more important for what you can comfortably take on. I can remember exactly how I did that first part after the two initial snakes. Very few games if any are so clear in my mind after playing them.

Exactly. I *still* haven't done a faith build throughout yet. Get too excited when a bkh drops As opposed to the fucking balder side sword Hah, I can relate to all three points in a way, my first try was a faith/str with the mace - but I managed to bork it after 20hrs by killing somebody I shouldn’t have. To my surprise I started a new game, that’s when I knew I really really liked Dark Souls. Second go I was dex (pyro) and found that BSS before I even knew it’s elusiveness was almost a meme. But then I stumbled across the Black Knight Halberd and it was all strength from there. Hardly ever used my maxed out flame. Oh boy I want to get back in but DS3 beckons

I’ve just left my character at level 30 to make it more interesting. Sens is definitely ok at SL47
Just need to do the crystal caves and the DLC now

Joined the Forest Hunters yesterday - and equipped the cat covenant ring for a bit, but didn't get any matches. Considering how often I hear the parish bell ringing, I was expecting it to be busy enough to get a match pretty quickly. Maybe not everyone's getting that far, or they're playing offline, or they're hollow (I'm not even sure if hollow players still get invaded by real Forest Hunter spirits). Anyway I always liked that area and the big mushroom boys beyond it so, hurray \o/ then I had to do the thing with Sif

I'd be surprised if there are many people playing, only a few die hard fans who re run it ad nauseum?

Yeah I don’t see any summon signs on the Remastered version and I’ve only been invaded once - although she/he actually waved, exited and put their summon sign down and we ran through the Depths together

The DLC area seems to be the invasion hotspot but not sure what the optimal level is. The game is busy- never heard as many bells ringing. Maybe just less invasions or they’ve dialled the frequency down???

Maybe they automated some bell rings to make it feel like it did in the halcyon days.

I doubt it. It's probably people running through the game hollowed, if they don't choose to engage in co-op you won't see any sign (heh) of them otherwise.
