Champ Gundy is an awesome fight. You've really got to focus on stamina management more than ever and time your heals.

I've never found him much more difficult than Iudex. Never struggled with Dancer either
How would you rate Pontiff?
Trying to think of other bosses I've struggled with. Friede's final phase is tough. I think DS2's DLC bosses are some of the hardest in the series. And those two in the throne room at the end are more of a pain than O&S - they cover each other really well

Pontiff is a chump once you get the bait and parry down

Never really parried in Dark Souls. Can never be arsed to work out what can and can't be parried. I think I still beat him in my third or fourth attempt but it always feel scrappy. One of the bosses that still gives me that rush from beating him

I've never found him much more difficult than Iudex. Never struggled with Dancer either Dancer I can see but Gundyr? Chains-his-entire-moveset Gundyr? Juggle-you-like-a-football Gundyr? What are you doing to him that makes him not much more difficult than Iudex? Even now I just parry him to death and I still have to take advantage of his stun window, which is just long enough to parry-chug-riposte, to kill him effectively. I struggle to imagine how you make him an easy fight without parrying since the only time he doesn't use followups is his charge, and good fucking luck dodging that. Pontiff is a tough fight but at least with him you know what's headed your way. He has a few short attack chains and one long one, plus two ranged attacks and an AoE, which gets harder to deal with when the ghost is there, but even then, when he's done attacking, you'll know. During his phase 2 transition you can get a ton of damage in, first when he kneels down and second when he's summoning the ghost, so that gets you on track to end the fight relatively quickly. Friede is more difficult solely by being a boss rush all by herself. However, being a human-sized boss means she has plenty of exploitable weaknesses, including backstabs and knockdown. In a scenario where her fight was only phase 1 and 3, I'd still put her under Champion Gundyr.

The fights aren't memorable or hard enough that I needed a strategy or anything like that. I always play no shield with light armour so I roll a lot
The thing with Pontiff is every time I think I've got a window to get a hit in or heal, he pulls something, the fuck

I'd be tempted to fire up DS3 and have a run through to give you a better answer but I can't be arsed with the faff for a PS5. Is there a way to reliably buy one yet?

I guess you could be overleveled? I always do Champ Gundyr as soon as possible so I can get the Coiled Sword Fragment and all the other goodies from Dark Firelink but if you only get around to killing him after you've already done all of Lothric Castle then I suppose he would go down a lot quicker.

I think we might be overlooking me being a bit of a badarse
I usually follow a level guide to make sure I'm always under and only level when I really need to anyway

Pontiff is easy once you learn to hug him and strafe round to your right, most of his attacks go over your head.

Always enjoyable to read through this thread. For some reason I found myself starting a Bloodborne playthrough this weekend, having not booted it up in literally years. Christ, I'd forgotten just how good it is. Fucking amazing, I love how aggressively you can play.
Up to Logarius now rocking a quality build 25/25 STR & SKL (15 ARC for the tools; capping END at 15 for now and seeing if I can get away with only 20 VIT). Build decisions need to be made, though. Thinking I might start pumping everything into SKL up to 50, with a +6 Saw Spear for now, swapping out for the Chickage when available. Then I'll decide if I go down the Bloodtinge route and the transformed Chickage or go deep Arcane with the Burial Blade for NG+.
I've also never done the DLC content before, so intend to do that at some stage. What level is sensible for that? Should I just wait until I only have Gehrman/Moon Presence left, really?

Yeah. The DLC is fucking hard so you want to leave it as long as possible. It's utterly amazing though.

It's been a long time since I fired up bloodborne. I don't think my main character has even finished it. I've done the DLC which was hard as fucking nails, and then left it back at the hunters dream with just Gehrman to do and did my usual "roll another 5 different type of characters"
Is it still 30fps, or have they finally sorted that out on ps5?

Nah still 30fps. Bloody shame, considering DS3 is a full lovely 60fps. Can't see why this was never done.

Is PS Now as much of a lagfest as I think it is? Can't imagine that works well with a fast-paced game like Bloodborne.

Is PS Now as much of a lagfest as I think it is? It mostly depends on how close to their hub you are. But yeah, if you live far away from it, the input lag will be very noticeable for sensitive people. I have no direct experience with PS Now, but I think you can rent on a monthly basis, so could be worth it to check it out.

Back in the day a fairly well respected PC game reviewer I followed on YT gave DS1 2/10 because it didn't have M+KB options. Not sure if that's still the case but why would you .....

Depends. Camera control is really shitty with a controller, and I never really know whether I should use a pad or kb+mouse for such games. For example, I played Hellpoint and The Surge with kb+mouse, and it was fine, despite the lack of analog movement. But I play Dark Souls with gamepad, and it's also fine, despite the lack of decent camera controls.
In PvP, the shitty camera controls are noticeable, when you are running around looking for them. But it's also fine, because it makes ambushing easier.
Best of both worlds would be a gamepad in the left hand and a mouse in the right hand. Or a keyboard with an analog stick for the left hand.

Just bend forward and stick your jaw out I suppose. That way you can catch the spaff as it shoots upwards.
