I just had an ordeal...
First, I beat O&S on the first try! \o/ (lv61, 2 summons, so I'm not that smug).
Then decided to use Quelag's soul to get the Furysword from the Giant Blacksmith before moving onwards, but I didn't have a curved sword +10 and the Large Ember is all the way back with Andre. So... I ran all the way back through Anor Londo and Sen's, nearly dying on the way while carrying 70k souls. And now I think I have to go all the way back up again??
I've been deliberately avoiding guides (although I did look up O&S just to figure out which one to kill first) but - is there a shortcut back to Firelink that opens up right after Anor Londo? If so, I've stuffed it up and made a lot of extra work for myself to get back there...

If so, I've stuffed it up and made a lot of extra work for myself to get back there... It's not THAT bad, if you unlocked the cage on a chain elevator in Sen's fortress. But yeah, moving through the whole fortress again would suck. |

Ah well, I know the way back through Sen's now at least. And now I have a +6 Scimitar! (Just kidding, Uchi +10 and <25% encumbrance is working out quite nicely) |

Ok I'm back in Anor Londo with the firekeeper, the way up wasn't so bad without the iron golem fireballs. Died once to a pendulum, but I'd already spent my souls so no big deal. Phew!

Then you are further ahead than I ever was. I reached Bed of Chaos, died a few times, couldn't be bothered to figure it out, then went the other way, fell down a few times in the crystal cave, and kind of stopped playing.

I don't think I even have the DLC. Or is it integrated in Prepare to Die edition? I also died a few times in the hollow tree and then turned around there, because it seemed I was not yet ready for it.

Apparently it's included. Worth doing but you'll probably have to look up how to access it- you should be able to if you got as far as the Archives

I'm now picking my way through the Catacombs - decided to try a Divine club on the skellies rather than picking off the Undead Mages, seems to be going well so far. There's a surprising lack of orange soapstone down here, including the obvious ones to mark traps and so on, not sure if people are skipping it or just assuming no guidance is needed at this point.

I don't think you can skip it. There is a yellow fog gate at the end of a section that is only connected to the catacombs (as far as I know).

Gave Seath a good slap and am also myself now deep into the Catacombs. Pinwheel down, one of the easiest bosses I've come across so now entering the Tomb of Giants...I have the cast light spell thank fuck.

That's 7 DS2 characters wunty I also rolled a new Demon's character (or two). Well... Ackshully, it's partly because I've been jumping between two different consoles and also because my boy rolled a new character as well, so it's not as mad as it seems. Honest. I rolled a DS2 one on the PS5, then retreated upstairs and ended up rolling a new one on the One, then my boy started and I was out of SM range for early co-op even with the ring, so rolled a new one to join him. Then I fancied trying the pursuer skip to see if it would work but had already bypassed that point so rolled another one etc etc.
I just kept wanting to fuck about at the start basically. I'm not mad. Honest.

Fuckin completed it, what a game!
Cannot believe after buying every Souls game (and Bloodborne and Sekiro), some of them multiple times, and never managing to get anywhere in any, I've now done Demon's and Dark Souls in the last ten months.
So chuffed right now!

Haha I'll be honest, I'm just happy to have beaten the bosses so won't be playing again, particularly with a backlog of over 100 games currently.
Will I get Elden Ring on release though? Fucking right I will.
