I thought DS3 lacked character compared to DS1, I realise that’s not very tangible as a critical analysis but it felt quite generic to me
Even now DS1 has an allure when I replay it

Did you fight super Ornstein or Smough?

One thing I’ve always found interesting when building a character in Dark Souls is the Crimson Waistcloth
It’s basically a towel with better protection than armour. I assume it was a mistake originally but it never got patched

You think that's weird? When fully upgraded, the Hollow Soldier Waistcloth has a better poise-to-weight ratio than basically any other leg armor. Wearing it makes it look like you don't have any pants on at all. It's a popular choice for minmaxed pvp builds.

It really is full of odd little quirks

Re: Dark Souls 2 talk. I think this thread has become the general Dark Souls thread. I would recommend people to try DS2 for themselves instead of being put off by silly people. For some people, it's their favourite one. Well, two people. But two good people

Did you fight super Ornstein or Smough? I keep forgetting which is which, but the fat one was the one I killed last

Smough. I always do Ornstein last because I want his stuff

Super Ornstein is much harder though, at least it seemed to me the few times I've tried.

Super Ornstein is much harder though, at least it seemed to me the few times I've tried. Smough is definitely easier to manipulate, although you used to be able to get Ornstein to bug out and only cast lightning at you, allowing you to plink away from range. Probably been corrected in the Remaster (Lol bet it hasn't)

I remember fighting them the very first time. I was using a Ring Shield. Or at least I think that's what it was called. Anyway, it has this special attack where it flings the shield out like a boomerang. The thing the devs might not have noticed at the time, is that it absolutely fucked bosses up. 3-4 hits with it and most bosses dropped. Then they nerfed it.

DS2 is always dirt cheap in the sales (like rn) so the cost of trying it for yourself is super low. Play it before DS3 and BB if you can I’d say.

Tch, there's a reason it's cheap.

Had been putting Artorias off these last few days on my low(Ish) level run as I could barely scratch the enemies in Royal Wood, leaving me a bit worried
Had a go earlier and it turns out that he’s pretty easy even at a low level. These games are definitely as much knowledge as they are skill as I was completely ham fisted but still had most of my estus left
Not sure I’ll be able to beat Manus as he was always the harder one for me and I don’t have anything better than a +15 Claymore

You only want physical damage (with a resin buff) and the Claymore is a solid balance of speed and heavy hitting. Have a go, you'll likely surprise yourself

Let’s hope so. It wasn’t doing much damage vs Artorias at all, quite a grindy battle

Discovered DS2 in the backlog recently, and just gave it an hour. This one is the best/worst one depending on who you ask, right? I was basically trying to get myself in the mood for Elden Ring as I'm otherwise quite cool on it. It's kinda doing that, at least.

It’s still a good game. I found the bosses were disappointing though

It's the weakest one for me, but I've probably sunk the most time into it over the years, because it's huge, so a full playthrough takes ages. Most of my moaning about it is purely to try to wind up Wunty/Aunty

I heard recently that the NPCs in DS2 are so smart you'd think they were real players uf yiu didn't know better. They emote correctly based on context, for instance.
FWIW I loved the stuff in DS2 where you brandish two of the same weapon, but fell off it in some castle full of contraptions that was a bit reminiscent of Sen's from DS1

It's been a shit week but damn these games are my comfort zone.

What am I missing? Why would you roll more than one anyway?
