They made some vague comments about patching in an offline mode in the future, if they could figure out how, but that was before the game crashed and burned. I'd be surprised if post-launch support lasted long enough to encompass such a patch.

They've already promised a DLC because people have bought it so they can't back out of this one even though they really should and make something to their strengths. |

Hopefully it RE6es them into thinking about what actually made their games fun and the next one is ace. Haven't been keeping up with game stuff recently (just stuck to playing) but gather from a cursory glance today that this has not been received well. It was only the Arkane name and comparisons to Borderlands that had me interested, so it's not really a big shock
I did finally get around to starting Prey and it's seriously good so Arkane are still in my good books

Yeah, I've heard that before. In September last year Fatshark promised Darktide would have single player with bots by December. It's now May and they're still fixing all the broken shit the game launched with, meanwhile the (toxic fuckhead) player base is dwindling away to nothing. I fully expect them to drop support well before they patch in that single player.
Redfall smells the same way.

Prey is excellent. This has nothing that makes me think of it being an Arkane game, limited choices in how missions are completed, it's primarily shoot something or look for a key and it feels very low budget which is weird for something being hyped as an important release for MS, static cutscenes and Xbox 360 quality models say hello.

Prey is excellent. This has nothing that makes me think of it being an Arkane game, limited choices in how missions are completed, it's primarily shoot something or look for a key and it feels very low budget which is weird for something being hyped as an important release for MS, static cutscenes and Xbox 360 quality models say hello. What really sold me on Prey was going out into space and expecting to be funnelled to wherever I needed to go but actually having the freedom to just fly around the whole station. Really nailed the expansive and scary void feel of space and made the station itself feel like a real place. The whole thing exists. Crazy good

Yeah agree, I definitely connect to games where I feel like I'm in a real place with locations that feel lived in and there's a purpose for the existence of each place. I suppose these are the hallmarks of an immersive sim and why I enjoy the genre so much, I hope Arkane Lyon's unannounced game in development keeps that feel. |

I think the thing with Arkane's games is that they aren't very immediate or paticularly exciting - it's about getting engrossed in whatever world they've created and you need to be in the mood for it
At one point I just took to going around and repairing everything on the station and sealing up any leaks with the gloo gun just for the joy of it like a space station handy man simulator

It ran like (even worse) shit and was very buggy when it first came out. I think a lot of people dumped it or skipped it then picked it up cheap, half a dozen patches to the good and finally playable.

Thinking about it, I got Prey with Mooncrash from the EGS some time ago... a good excuse to play it again.
Last time I went for a full strength build, might try something a bit more tech-like next.

If you get the upgrade early that lets you take tissue samples from the enemies, you can really churn out the upgrades and practically max out everything (if you just stick to the human stuff). Not sure how far through I am (just got to the tunnel that runs through the station bit but I've done some other stuff out of order I think) and at this point I'm just filling out whatever skills are left
Not getting the alien stuff for narrative reasons

Turns out most of the key people have already left, though I'm not quite sure what that means for Arkane Lyon. Lots of newbies involved apparently.

It did not take that Steam thread very long at all before contributors were suggesting the game was poor because Arkane become too woke and hired a diverse group of employees.

Started replaying Dishonoured 2 last weekend as I last played it in 2017 and one I forgot how brilliant it is, two, how it looks better visually than Redfall and three, how it's mechanically better than Redfall. It's crazy.

Started playing this again in co op and solo after not playing it in maybe 2 weeks. The patches have definitely helped and now it's easily a solid 9 out of 10. Good fun to play.
A solid 9 out of 10 on the shitness scale.
Yeah it's fun in a way but it's utterly soulless, the a.i. is bad, the main characters are boring and the story, whilst not the worst is delivered so badly it's almost impossible to care or pay attention. This should have just been cancelled or delayed for about one year to give it more of a chance.
I might complete it slowly in co op but I think that's pretty unlikely as my son and I will now be playing D4 for months I assume.

Yeah I just deleted it. I was bored doing a mission and it crashed right at the end so it's gone.
