Made it past the first boss with the spear. Second boss ended me very quickly but I think I’m getting the hang of things a little more. Thanks for the tips everyone

You may be underestimating your own skill at the game, or missing that less skilled players are still persevering with it.

I've only had 2 wins out of 68 attempts. I've maxed out the mirror and I'm starting to feel like my win rate will gradually increase, but I'm still finding Hades tough to beat. I'm now pretty convinced I'm just not very good at the game, but I suspect it's not just me who was not even close to consistent victories after 30ish runs.

Yeah, maybe. I dunno, I dont like to toot my own horn (honestly) but it may just be that I am good at it. On the new xbox save I think I have 25 clears out of 27 runs.

Although I would say that rather than being a good twitch gamer, I am OK at figuring out systems and I do think Hades gets significantly easier when you fully piece it together. Being able to cobble a good build together is the key to unlocking the entire game.

And swap them out. If you start with hypnos for a money boost you can then swap out to a more relevant keepsake depending on what your build is like.

So I almost always start with hypnos and if my build is looking like its going to be close range melee, I swap to the bracer thing that achilles gives you that has 30% damage reduction on it. Just little things like that all add up.

Second. I played this a lot on the switch.

Wait, no. It might have been third, actually. I think I might have died twice to bull and spear guy. So it might be 25/28.

Like I say, the key is knowing how to play it. Most if not all of my early clears I deliberately went for the lightning rod duo boon which will carry you to victory pretty much regardless of your other stats. Its as close to a guaranteed (albeit slow) clear as you can get.

The other easy mode is the dionysus/zeus one. Take Dionysus' cast and a pretty much any zeus one and soon you will get the duo boon that makes the festive fog shoot lightning.

Found my first legendary boon last night , made the game faceroll levels of easy, did Artemis & minotaur with 0 dmg taken, lost not even half a hp bar to Hades. Having fun in the game still but cant see me hanging around much after the story is done.

I'm still fulfilling prophecies - so the builds vary quite a bit.

They are fairly rare without the mirror but you never just get one. They need one or usually two boons from the same god before they have a chance of dropping so they don’t usually appear until Tartarus

Oh, and I've not managed to catch any fish - is it worth the effort? If so, any tips?

I can usually catch the fish and sometimes get a perfect catch. Not sure what tip to offer other than "react quickly", but I find staring at Zagreus rather than the lure helps. Then tap as soon as you see the flash

Finally found a bow build that absolutely melted everything with the aspect that makes the special homing arrows. Ended up firing 12 arrows that homed in with status effects. Broke my time record with that at 25:38.

I'm amazed at how much replayability they've built in. It's as good as any game I've played in the genre for that. Just mastering each weapon in itself is hours, but the narrative content, aspects, pacts, companions and prophecies add so much. Could do with something else to break its hold.

Just managed my first successful escape on my 53rd attempt. Beat Hades pretty easily in the end, using the fists. Interestingly, these were my least used weapon (I rotate based on bonus), and the only time I've really ever used cast, the invincibility one.

Seem to have encountered one of those ridiculous builds people keep talking about. I have 4 legendary/duo boons, and I just bested Theseus and Asterius without taking a single hit
