Man those 3rd bosses are bastards. Its the bulls charge that keeps doing me Always focus on Asterius at the start using dash attacks. Stay near a couple of pillars near the edge of the arena, as it means you can use them for cover from Theseus's spear, and you can steer Asterius into hitting one of the pillars when he does his charge. His base attacks are pretty well signalled and he'll happily jump back and forth as you dash through him. Any boost to damage from behind is useful for dealing with him. Theseus is reasonably straightforward, but some of the god calls are area effects that can catch you out as you either need to stay still or get into Theseus's face in the centre - the ones that track you are far easier to avoid. And most important of all, once you beat them don't forget your fan.

Finally managed the first fury, and reached the Hydra, but then had my bottom violated. The Hydra* is the easiest boss in the game - his attacks have massive signals especially his head drop, and you can whale loads of damage on him without having to move much (don't forget to use cast on him too once you've unlocked Boiling Blood). The small heads are a nusiance - try to deal with them in pairs, as the effect of heads on the other sides of the arena are easy to avoid if you're out of reach. What can catch you out is eventually he comes in different guises, same for the small heads - if they're spitting out enemies, focus on destroying the orbs before they hatch; if they're spitting out projectiles, dodge through, or avoid, or even better deflect. * Lernie

When the minotaur charges, if you dash literally through a pillar then he will attempt to follow you and crash into it. Super easy.
The most annoying thing about him is his 2nd phase jump with the 3 projectiles he sends out. Never quite figured out how to reliably dodge that.

Got all the way to Hades with the railgun spamming the special grenade thing. Pretty chuffed with that because I only started playing it properly last Sunday.
It’s actually quite easy compared to the likes of a Souls game (which I always give up on), as long as you get the right build and keep your distance with bosses.

Yeah, I wouldn't even really compare it to a Souls game. Once you level up to a reasonable level and learn the enemy patterns, it becomes pretty easy. Stuff enables you to ramp up the difficulty later on, which is cool as you can tune it yourself. It's closer to Slay the Spire imo - more about the builds than the actual combat.

Does anyone else almost completely neglect Cast and Call? I just got all the way to the 3rd boss with a spear build that was focused on dash-strike and Doom, wasn't even doing the special, let alone casting. And I only got Poseidon's call when there was no other sensible option. With some lucky Doom modifiers it was absolutely melting enemies, the only thing that let it down was a shortened dash distance- totally wrecked in the last phase of Theseus.

What's call? The one on the right trigger?. Yeah think I've only triggered that once (though I've only got half way through the 3rd area so far).
Making progress but I'm honestly not sure I'm actually any better at the game than me first go. Just get it a bit better.

Poseidon’s call is probably the best one, high damage and invincibility. Aries is the same but not quite as damaging and I usually take Artemis as it’s just a nice fat wedge of ‘get off me’ burst damage.
The rest are either worthless or the other boons are better.

A cast focussed build can be amazing, but yeah the calls are a bit meh imo. Too short and too long to build up the meter.

First escape, fists with hangover/doom damage & the 40% mirror buff, should not as been as close as it was really. Onwards to 10 escapes now.

Made it to Hades just once (with the gun) over the weekend so I suppose that's progress! Unlocked the final 'death defiance' so hopefully I can now just bruteforce my way to a successful escape. Seems the real test is Theseus/Minotaur as it didn't seem Hades was overly challenging (I was just down to a sliver of life at that point). Now to see if I can get back there...

This isn’t very helpful now but when you first finish the game you unlock a menu called ‘pact of punishment’ and it shows you there

I did it! About the 30th time of asking..
With the sword and a boon that made me invincible to a hit (20 second recharge) which made it easier to kite the bosses. Also a weapon upgrade that gave me life for each hit but reduced damage... Needless to say the run took awhile!

Nice going. The boon that really drags out runs is Stubborn Roots (Demeter/Athena duo) - regenerate 1HP every second or so when you haven't got any Death Defiances left. End game becomes a game of hide and seek.

I'm on 38 runs, got to the end boss twice now but fell in the last moments both times. Starting to think an extra dash (3 in total) is basically essential.
Also, I absolutely HATED the sword and the bow at first. Guess what I used for my current 2 best runs...

Extra dash is amazing, I've had the epic version which is an extra 3 dashes on a few successes recently. Hades can't hit you in the final battle because you dash across the entire arena and through his attacks. Put things like deflect or the one that pushes enemies back and the build becomes a dash build. Always take Hermes boons if they're available.

I think I need to make better choices on Boons, I think that's what's letting me down on the 3rd boss. I'm not powerful enough.

Just got my first escape after 52 attempts. Used the shield, I think what really took me over the line was some nice upgrades on cast and dash. The call also helped on the final level and boss.

Third attempt on Hades and I really thought I had him. Railgun with clusterbombs and triple shot, two Death Defiance and a Lucky Tooth, 4x dash. Just couldn't get out of the way or do enough damage in the second phase. Onwards...

The biggest hurdle I had to get past with the final boss, was just to not panic. Most of the moves are telegraphed and relatively easy to dodge, but I'm usually in such a rush to kill him that I make more mistakes.

Yeah, the thing that really changed the fight for me was:
Don’t just shoot Hades
Once I started shooting those stupid skull things he throws out the fight goes from scraping through to pretty much always killing him comfortably. I kept losing so much health to those circular wave blasts it’s not even funny.

I'm probably at about 40 runs now, and defeated Hades 10-12 times. I get to him every run now and its 50/50 if I defeat him.
I never considered the dash before, I always thought Hermes had weak boons. I definately need to start choosing his boons more and experimenting more.

Always take hermes. He might not have the best individual boons but I think all of them are at least worth getting which makes him one of the better choices.
And always take the movement speed one if it offers you it first. It generally means the second boon will be the one that gives you a massive damage buff based on your extra speed (if you get offered 40% extra movement speed first, the second boon will give 20% extra base damage).
So, yeah, always pick the hermes room if you can.

I will definately give Hermes a try, thanks for the advice.
So what is everyones favourite weapons? My opinions of different weapons has changed quite a bit over time. As you experiment with different builds and also as you upgrade the weapons, some which you think were useless then become totally awesome.
I think my favourite at the moment are the gloves. I have upgraded them and using the pair where the special pulls the enemies in from a disctance and then does extra damage. They are super effective and fun.
I still cannot get on very well with the bow. Had a completely poor run last night and Hades slaughtered me. The bow does not suit my mashy and frantic playstyle.
