It feels like it pretty much is at the point.
My wife and I bought some CBD gummies recently. We both suffer with forms of anxiety and the gummies have really helped er... Smooth the edges when we find it hard to relax.

Most studies analyzing repression find it is almost always ineffective and usually even counterproductive. So yes, it should be legal.

Someone told me about the CBD tablets you can get and how much they're helping their anxiety. Trouble was when I looked to get some, they were £60 a bottle, which would give me even more anxiety.
I used to be against legalisation, but I think it helps more than harms from what I've read and I'd much prefer dealing with someone high in weed than pissed on Stella.

Just because I'm selling a little bit of drugs doesn't make me a drug dealer.

It should, but I'm not sure I can ever see it happening. There's far too much nimbyish handwringing and I can't see it being a big vote winner in the contemporary political climate.
Not that it makes much difference anyway. It's pretty much fully decriminalised now anyway, though? They mostly didn't prosecute any personal use in Bristol for the last decade or so, ime. That might be different now I've moved to the sticks, but I doubt I'll find out.
I haven't smoked in years, but we discovered making our own edibles and that's been... really nice.

Crazy that it got legalised in the USA (many states at least) before here. I always thought the UK was more socially progressive than our cross Atlantic chum(p)s

I imagine it would mobilise a big chunk of the youth/generally non-voting population. Would be interesting to see.

Smooth the edges when we find it hard to relax. If one's anxiety is bad enough to self medicate, what about existing options on the NHS like Sertraline?
There's lots of proven chemical assistance out there at a much more economical price while being safe and well researched.
It should definitely be legal though, regulate the shit out of it. The tories love a regulation though don't they?

Maybe, although I'm not sure if it's a big thing, it's probably never really affected them much. Also, voting is hard work.

Aye. I could easily see the UK implementing it as poorly as Canada has, with poor quality product and such a stranglehold over the availability and price that people just revert to getting the good stuff, for less, from Old Ken or whoever

Yes. Until the 26th of August I was pretty hooked on the stuff but that was a me problem and not a problem with the drug itself.
If alcohol can be legal and it's OK to buy cigarettes at a shop, I can't see why it should be illegal to buy cannabis.
My thought was that it's quite easy to grow cannabis whereas making your own alcohol probably takes more effort and growing your own tobacco would be a lot of work in our climate - so the Tax-Man doesn't mind those two being legal.

It probably should, just to alleviate all the suffering involved in the supply chain. Likewise with all drugs. And the tax revenue generated from the legalization should go into similar schemes to smoking to actually get people to not start or in fact quit drug use.
All this shit fucks you up and ultimately make you depressed. My one weakness, beers with mates; but in recent times the urge to drive and have a clear head has outweighed the urge for 8 pints and a disorganised end to the evening.
I think I've mentioned this before, my only bugbear with weed is the stench for your neighbors, its really not fair, people should have baked stuff instead unless they're at a concert or something?

This is where legalising improves things too to some extent. Being able to easily buy edibles or THC vape cartridges is great. As is having a nice cafe you can go to and sit and smoke a lovely joint and have a tasty tea.

Legalize the whole lot. Tax it all akin to road tax for buyers, livened dealers have to pay a lot more per year. Ringfenced.
ALL that money goes into setting up nationwide extensive coverage and availability for rehab for all kinds of substance abuse issues.

I don't really know enough about how it's going in places where they've legalized it to be sure, but I haven't heard any horror stories of their civilisations collapsing.
At this point it seems like there aren't really any strong reasons not to.

The referendum here failed by the narrowest margin, partly thanks to some pretty sharp practice from the 'no' campaign, and media bias. Still grumpy that it was a referendum TBH, Ardern should've had the guts to just do it.

Canada messed up by controlling the suppliers, who produced such poor quality product that people decided the black market was better. Portugal have adopted Khanivor's general idea and last I read about it, it is proving to be successful.

Weirdly you can legally grow it for export, but not for consumption in the uk. Hooray for.. business..?
I’m of two minds, really; on the one hand the “this thing is bad and legal so why not legalise this?” isn’t a brilliant argument as if cigarettes were invented today they wouldn’t be legal. Also, by smoking weed in public you are affecting people who didn’t consent to it (just like regular smoking).
However, if you want to do it in your own home.. why not?

However, if you want to do it in your own home.. why not? For me, this is all it boils down to. If weed is legalised, grown safely & grown well, then taxed, who is it harming, other than yourself?... and it would certainly benefit the economy. If you eat it instead of smoking it, you could argue it doesn't even harm the user. Just yesterday, there was a BBC South Yorkshire article about massive problems with rival cannabis gangs in Rotherham. I doubt this is a problem in Canada. In my mind, it's ridiculous not to legalise it at this point.

Murder Mountain and Sasquatch are two documentaries that really highlight the criminality behind large scale growing. Just because it has been legalised and regulated doesn't mean the traditional suppliers want anything to do with those markets. More to do with criminal syndicates rather than weed itself.
Still it's quasi legal here, Spain has cannabis clubs and all. Smoke in the street and you will get knicked but as long as you grow and smoke at home and it can't be seen by the public or smelt by the neighbours you should be fine. But it ultimately would be up to the discretion of the attending officer or a judge if it got that far.

In Barcelona some young dude tried to get us to pay him €25 and follow him down an alley to a cannabis club. Didn't feel like getting shanked, bummed or both that day so politely declined

Didn't feel like getting shanked, bummed or both that day so politely declined I used to have to stand outside whilst my Mrs (who was a BCN resident at the time) went in. It was like being 14 again, waiting outside yer dealer whilst the one kid who was allowed to go in did so. Not dodgy or obvious at all. Queues of kids, waiting outside one flat.
