Yep, Kelly's Heros. WWII reimagined as a hippy film, and it worked. Donald Sutherland was on the money with his part. As they all were.

Time for a replay of KGB then. What's KGB? My favourites were Kelly's Heroes, The Eagle has Landed and The first Great Train Robbery. He was one of those actors that was pretty good in everything he did. I remember watching KH as a kid, probably about 12 or 13 and it had a big impact, with Oddball being the standout character. He had so many good roles (TEHL and TFGTR are classics) be they big or small. Invasion of the Body Snatchers is a strong favourite, and he was great in Animal House. He's only in JFK for a few minutes, and yet his scene is easily one of the best. Tonight I'm going for Space Cowboys - it's been on the pile for years but somehow I've never gotten round to it. |

Second Kelly’s Heroes. It’s like a much better go at the same sort of concept 3 Kings did much later and is very funny.
My old man always says war films (or anything else period) made in the seventies look like the 70s though, and it’s true in this case.
