No more serious jockin’. One of those people who’ve been there all your life and assume they’ll still be there long after you’re gone

Same. Part of my early radio listening years. Bought a smile to my face. RIP Steve Wright. ✌️

I'm actually a bit sad about Steve Wright.
Heard him on the radio a lot growing up, but working in a small animation studio for a few years in the '10s I rediscovered listening to him.
Yes, it's often banal and corny but there was some warmth and wit and a total lack of pretentious - we would usually listen to 6 Music in the morning, but by the afternoon I'd just need something that wasn't trying to be too cool for school.

Did he also invent the “hot-pockets” sequel? Gremmi might know. He is over there so I imagine he lives on Hot Pockets.

Anyone like Pizza Rollers before they got banned due to fools burning themselves on them. I remember the theme tune… ‘McCain got a great new pizza taste They call it Pizza Rollers’

My favourite player as a kid, I proper worshipped him. IMO still the greatest left back who ever played the game. RIP Andy

Of course there's a fandom wiki:
"Fred was scammed by a woman named Stacy Hilton who pretended to be an immigrant called Orchid, looking for a "mail order" husband. She was after his money - working with Dennis Stokes, an acquaintance of Fred's. Ashley discovered her working on Levenshulme Market and Fred's heart was again broken. A year or so later, Fred discovered Orchid beaten and being admitted to hospital. He almost took her back in but in the end sent her on her way"

I hope they won a soap award for that storyline.
