Liz Truss managed to bring down the monarchy after all. She really played the long game.

It's going to be like Poppy Day, with commentators, politicians, etc trying to 'out-patriot' each other. Hope she leaves a list of how she really feels about certain people as a final LOL! I am wearing clothing made entirely of poppies already, just in case.

I'm cutting out pictures of Her Maj and sewing them onto my coat and trousers.
Bit like Partridge's stalker...

Nicholas Witchell doing the hard miles today. Bleugh Just looked on website, and he's posted this: "No more detail from the palace at this stage Nicholas Witchell BBC royal correspondent I understand Buckingham Palace is not expected to say anything more at this stage. There is nothing imminent I am led to believe." MUST REPORT SOMETHING

I remember Charles being mic’s up and saying some rather unflattering things about Witchell and he was spot on.

Some time ago, I think he also got really pissy when the Palace wouldn't update him on Philip or the Queen when they were ill.
Worst job in the world though - just regurgitating press release after press release.
More time for his dead butterflies though, I guess...

From my vague memory of events I remember young me being fuming that Match of the Day didn't come on when Di, died. All the matches got cancelled as a sign of respect. Newcastle v Liverpool was supposed to be on Sky. My folks were away so we had all pilled round to mine with beers having been up all night drinking and I found a drunken mate of mine in my dad's study onto the FA complaining

Quite the time to admit you’ve bashed one out over the Queen.
At least it’s not Elgar I suppose.

She's not gone yet, but : Operation Unicorn (death in Scotland), from the wiki Once the death has been made public, Holyrood Palace, St Giles' Cathedral, and the Scottish Parliament will serve as the focal point of gatherings, with a condolence book open to the public set up at the latter location. Parliamentary business will be suspended immediately for at least six parliamentary days, in order to allow authorities to prepare for the funeral.[10] The parliament will then prepare a motion of condolence within 72 hours of reconvening.[9] All Air Space around the British Isles will be closed for six days of mourning. My parents are in Portugal at the moment. I'm sure them plus the many[millions?] On holiday Will be thrilled they can't get home.

The live BBC feed is suitably ghoulish. No thanks. There is something rather distasteful about the BBC running a Live updates page. Don't get me wrong I have zero time for the RF except for maybe the Queen but just seems quite disrespectful IMO. Are you Paul Dacre?
