I like how she cocks them first before firing. Nice attention to detail

Welcome all new refugees!
Unrelated. Maybe I should resurrect my murderous chocobo gif?

The inclusive thing to do now is change our tagline to "THE REEDPOP EXILES FORUM".

I'm another one from over there. Funnily enough, I also started my online gaming career with Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight. Even made some mods for it back in the day, and still visit the massassi temple forums (which are still running) from time to time.
In the more recent years. besides RPS, I've been active in the Mechwarrior Online and the Mount and Blade:Warband cRPG mod forums for a while. I'm an exclusive PC player now (master race), although I have owned the original Playstation when it was new. I now buy my games exclusively on GOG, because I had some support issues on Steam that pushed me away from this platform.
Looking forward to interacting with all you degenerates (just my impression from reading this thread, nothing personal).

These are welcome developments. In another 15 years we won’t even remember who comes from where. Those that are still alive then, I mean. Afraid you can count me out on that front. Stage 4 pancreatic cancer, got less than a year. I'll upload my usual avatar when my chemo wears off enough to let me get up and use my pc.

Just kidding. I am actually inspired by you and your fight. It helps me deal with my much smaller problems.

We had a thread on EG and we have one here which has been really supportive with regards to cancer. With people losing partners, family and their own battles. If you can overlook the somewhat spicy title its been a place where people can vent, share and be supportive. If that's of any interest. fontgeek.io/thread/235/cancer

Wow - that's intense to hear, spacein_vader, I'm sorry that's happened to you. Second the suggestion above that you checkout the Eff Cancer thread linked above - good place to vent, and whatever else you might want to chat about should you need it.

Same here @spacein_vader, I'm sorry to hear that For me, there was always a sinking feeling every time the cancer thread got bumped back at the old place, even though occasionally it was for some happy news, but I digress... Feel free to use it as you see fit.

FFS spacein_vader, that's awful to hear and I'm so sorry. Brought my own 'complaints' into perspective.
I hope we can make you laugh and support you while we're all here together.

Oh jesus, sorry to hear that. Same one that got my mum. We had a cancer thread in the old place that gave a lot of us support, it’s one thread I simultaneously hope continues and also never have to see

Thanks for the messages, I'll definitely give the thread a look.
Don't think I'd mentioned it on RPS, all happened rather suddenly (diagnosed in July,) and getting the palliative care and pensions/medical retirement (from the NHS ironically) /life insurance sorted took up a lot of time. Spent the rest of it making memories in likely my last summer holiday with the kids.
Pro tip: if you have a property with mortgage and your life insurance doesn't also include Critical Illness I'd strongly look into it. It'll make the next few months much less stressful for me and my wife.

Hard to find the words for that but I think it's safe to say we all feel privileged that you've decided to hang your flag up here at fontgeek, spaceinvader. Look forward to reading your thoughts on stuff going forward.

I'll leave the cheery cancer stuff for the other thread.
On a more practical note, how is this place funded? Is there some sort of tip jar?

Yeah there's a pot to keep the ads away. I think someone's put 50p in the meter recently, so should be ok for a bit.

Yeah it’s about $6 for 50,000 ad free page views or something like that, some of us just Chuck a payment over from time to time to keep the banner ads at bay. They expire each month or something so make a one off payment and let an admin decide when to use the credit, nielka will use the leftovers to get a new kitchen.
I keep seeing the thread title as PRS refugees and wondering why we’re getting a load of guitar enthusiasts

Nice to see you guys jumping over, the pc threads are often quiet in here so it will be good to have some more folk to chat in them.

That's because the rest of us have better things to do than tweak a setting and then spend weeks convincing ourselves that it's better. Not really, I loved that. Hours lost when I could have been playing a game but so much fun

When I no longer had to use a download manager and wait hours/days to download patches and mods, it just didn't seem like fun anymore

I legitimately miss tampering with autoexec.bat and config.sys to get things running, with boot disks tailored for specific games.
