Final calorie consumed before six last night! I honestly feel supported and more positive about this straightaway; thanks you lot! And good luck! Well done! I was on track yesterday until my sister called at 8pm and asked me to pick up my nephew to babysit for a few days, he hadn't had dinner so wanted fish and chips. I couldn't resist. Even though it's still sort of within my current 16/8 window it's way more food than I should have eaten. I've planned a long family walk down the canal today to hopefully offset last night's mistakes /o\ Baby steps... Baby steps

4th day in on the new regime. Promising start. Kept within calorie limit and also fasting interval. Took the dog for a long walk earlier and started the 100 push up challenge. I like to have some set goals behind exercise so once I hit the gym again I think I will do C25k on a treadmill for starters.

Be careful eating such low cals and doing excessive cardio at the same time - it’s a perfect recipe to really tank your metabolism quickly. It’ll slow down naturally in a calorie deficit but the cardio will reduce the duration that would normally take and cause weight loss plateaus. It’ll be difficult to further drop cals or increase cardio to keep losing, if that’s the needed. Without a good plan to increase calories intelligently after your diet phase you’ll be at risk of just increasing weight again rapidly too.

Going to bump up my calorie intake inline with whatever increase I do cardio wise. The main aim for the 16/8 for me is to stop the late night snacking. It won't be forever.

I'm slowly getting better!
Midnight snacking had turned from multiple meals, to last night solidarity cheeky biscuit and to, hopefully, tonight a clean run. I find making a big pot of jasmine tea in the evening is helping heaps.
Dreading it, but I'm off to the gym for the first time in a few months to jump on the cross trainer for a cheeky 5k, I'm desperately out of shape,it's going to get ugly.

Thanks! This is good advice, I tend to get a little competitive with the people around me on the crosstrainers, over exert myself, and not go back for another 3 months.

It's great how running when you're heavier burns more calories...what's not great is that it also fucks your muscles more!

No snacking last night! 129kg this morning, down 3kg in four days. Goal weight is 120. That might seem high to most people but I'm 6'7", anything lower than around 110kg and I turn into a gangly beanpole. I'd love to be around 115 but I've never got close, so realistic goals for now. Gym was... an experiance yesterday. 45 mins on the cross trainer had me walking like bambi afterwards. EMarkM How you getting on?

razz No scales here, but I’m certainly sticking with the plan: no nighttime eating at all so far. I’ve never been convinced of my own feelings on this, but it always seems as if I can feel the benefits straightaway. Maybe I can! It’s definitely helping, knowing a few people on here are making their own attempt too. I’ve had a couple of “don’t let ‘em down” moments, which have tightened me up when temptation struck!

Stay strong! I know what you mean though. Have been good all week, no snacking at all, no crisps with lunch etc. Just regular meals.

Good job Dougs! I wish I could say the same, we keep some dark chocolate around to hand le the cravings, I have a nibble every now and then.
I went to gym thrice, did a few long walks but I'm done today. Might even go out for a cheeky burger and a pint tonight. I'll know I'll be behind where I want to be but my mental health demands I treat myself today. I guess just don't go overboard right? Fingers crossed.

Lost about 3.5kg in 10 days just from not drinking and taking a daily lunchtime walk with the missus. I’ve had a wicked cough stopping me from exercising properly but now that’s starting to recede I’m hoping to start that again this week. If I can get down to 90kg I’d be happy with that, so that’s another 9kg to go.
Having the gf move in has turned out to be a great weight loss tool - just because she gives me grief whenever I think about getting back on the beers or crisps.

Still on the wagon but did allow myself a couple of weekend treats (some crisps and a couple of biscuits), so back to nowt again during the week. Sleep is slowly getting better off the booze but otherwise haven't really felt hugely better - prob needs another few days or a week.

I’ve just had one evening of eating later than I wanted. My Moderna booster knocked the stuffing out of me, and I couldn’t face dinner with the kiddo at 17:00 on Saturday. By the time her mum got home, around 22:00, I felt peckish, so did grab a few things. Forgivable, though, and I’d still eaten less overall than I had been doing. Aside, still can’t really taste anything properly after December’s Covid. Had jalfrezi, chips, naan and popadom last night, and could honestly only taste the popadom

And that was probably a texture thing more than taste! Bar Saturday, it's been easier than some times when I've cut back.

There's nothing inherently wrong with eating later in the day so don't worry about it too much. Remember not to be too hard on yourselves - dieting sucks, and habitual changes take time. Small changes stick better than sweeping changes that are harder to sustain. Reward yourselves for progress rather than punish yourselves for slip-ups. Shit happens, let it go and move on.

There's nothing inherently wrong with eating later in the day so don't worry about it too much. Whilst I agree in principle, and my opinion changes all the time (!), I have noticed that I generally feel worse if I eat too close to bedtime. Plus, I'm using the "don't eat after eight" thing to limit intake overall, really - if I don't eat the thing I was going to eat then, then I have eaten less that day. I think I've mentioned it earlier, but I had most success with, and much prefer, an "intuitive eating" (Paul McKenna) approach, but eating slowly at random times seems impossible with a child who needs meals at certain times. More thoughts on this, from anyone who does it successfully, are always appreciated.

Going without booze is easy but no sugar is such a struggle, I definitely think I'm addicted to it, especially chocolate

Going without booze is easy but no sugar is such a struggle, I definitely think I'm addicted to it, especially chocolate I am, and it's the core reason I developed diabetes. Well imo anyway. Having to abstain due to health reasons is tough, especially with kids at home and sugary treats everywhere.
